Description
Summary

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Human Resource Specialist supports daily operations of the Human Resource Department. They handle data related needs and changes in the HRIS System including report creation and auditing. They also respond to general HR related inquiries.


Duties & Responsibilities

The following job duties and responsibilities are stated in broad terms and not intended to be inclusive. Those in bold are essential duties of the position:



  • Create and maintain compliant personnel files (electronic and physical)
  • Functions as daily HRIS administration, with responsibility for all record changes, record accuracy and data integrity.
  • Maintain accurate records of contracted staff (e.g., travelers, interns) and ensure compliance with screening and training requirements.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) of the HRIS and aid team members and employees as needed.
  • Act as first point of contact for all general HR questions or needs including verification employment.
  • Assist with department special projects as assigned.
  • Produce reports by leveraging advanced Excel, data analytics, and HR technology to monitor key metrics, and enhance reporting capabilities.
  • Provide general support to all members of the HR team.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Required

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience working within Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas, and data visualization tools.


Preferred

  • Experience supporting benefit administration.
  • Experience supporting HRIS system implementation.
  • Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)

  • Written and verbal fluency in English.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple and competing priorities.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.


  • Understanding of employment law and regulatory systems related to position responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to quickly learn, adapt, and apply knowledge and skills to new and changing situations.
