Our INVISTA Longview, TX, polypropylene plant is hiring a Mechanic to join our team.

Our Team

The Maintenance team is responsible for the support and ownership of site-wide mechanical integrity and reliability. This position will report to our Maintenance Supervisor. It is vital for this position to be a team player with a team focus, respectful, and contribution motivated.

What You Will Do

  • Maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant equipment and systems
  • Performing root cause analyses of equipment failures
  • Completing required checklists and work log entries
  • Responding to callouts
  • Inspecting equipment during overhauls
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
  • Perform repairs to a precision state
  • Diagnosing problems by interpreting and working from engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and equipment manufacturers' literature
  • Safety First Mentality that values risk identification and personal ownership
  • Developing/modifying procedures
  • Providing mechanical support during emergencies, shutdowns, and turnarounds

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • 2+ years of experience working as a mechanic in an industrial setting
  • This role is not eligible for Visa sponsorship

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Experience with pumps and valve maintenance
  • Experience with rotating equipment (compressors, etc.)
  • Previous Millwright Experience
  • Knowledge of electrical and instrumentation
  • AAS in Industrial Maintenance

Physical Requirements

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels, and columns, ladders associated with scaffolds up to 215 feet
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • 80% of work is performed in an outside petrochemical manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot/humid, cold, and inclement climate conditions.
  • Working 4/10s, Monday through Thursday, 6:45 am to 5:15 pm. The work schedule is subject to change with notification, depending on business needs. Additionally, must be available to work scheduled (Planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice hours on nights and/or weekends, holidays as needed), to meet business needs.
  • Required to wear any or all of the following PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, FRC, gloves, safety boots. PPE use is in accordance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for a given task.

This role is subject to a pre-hire physical abilities test.
