Project Engineer - Interior Specialties

Position Summary
We are seeking a Project Engineer - Interior Specialties to support self-performed scopes of work related to interior framing, drywall, acoustical ceilings, interior finishes, and specialty construction packages. This role will be fully based at the project site and will collaborate closely with project leadership, design professionals, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to resolve complex coordination issues and ensure successful delivery of interior scope. The Interior Specialties Project Engineer will serve as a technical advisor, support project execution, and help maintain alignment between architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
Key Responsibilities
Run and support meetings with project managers, design teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives
Coordinate and resolve field issues across interior specialties, architectural, structural, and MEP scopes
Interpret design drawings, specifications, and technical manuals for material quantification and constructability
Review and process submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs to ensure accuracy and integration across systems
Generate and distribute RFIs, change documents, and directives as required
Provide layout and field survey support for control lines and benchmarks
Facilitate training for client personnel on operation and maintenance of specialty systems
Document as-built conditions and track changes to project scope
Serve as the technical advisor at the onsite field office, supporting the project superintendent and manager
Qualifications
Professional Experience & Education
At least 2 years of commercial construction experience focused on interior systems (metal stud framing, drywall, ceilings, and finishes)
Strong understanding of interior construction methods, materials, and sequencing
High school diploma or GED required
Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Civil/Structural Engineering, Construction Engineering Management, or related field preferred
Education or experience background in materials and methods of construction
Technical Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams)
Familiarity with project management platforms: Prolog, Procore, E-Builder, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, Primavera P6
Experience with design software: AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and survey data
Knowledge of CSI specification system

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
Mix of office-based and field work in active construction environments
Ability to climb ladders, scaffolds, and stairs; work in confined spaces; and navigate noisy sites
Frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, or crouching to examine project work
Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds and move materials short distances
Regular use of computers, productivity tools, and field instruments
Strong vision, hearing, and communication capabilities required to perform job functions
