Temporary staff employees are ineligible to receive benefits (leave, health coverage, State service credit, etc.). They are, however, covered by Worker's Compensation provisions.
However, any non-permanent employee hired to work 30 or more hours per week for three months or more (cumulative of all positions, and not designated as variable hour worker), must be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan, within 30 days of their eligibility. Any non-permanent employee hired to work less than 30 hours per week (cumulative of all positions or designated as variable hour worker - i.e. student workers) are measured during designated measurement periods. If they average 30 or more hours per week over a designated measurement period, they will be offered the chance to enroll in the High Deductible Health Plan and will be notified of instructions.

Minimum Experience/Education |
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
University Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from a four year college or university and one year of related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: |
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Preference given to graduates of UNC Charlotte and the volunteer Niner Guide Program, campus tour guide.
- Demonstrated competencies gained through one to three years of experience in volunteer management, program coordinator, or an equivalent combination of education experience.
- Employee should be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and some desktop publishing software.
- Experience in coordinating and leading groups of volunteers
- Experience in program planning and administration
- Experience providing quality service to internal and external customers
- Experience in compiling, drafting and proofreading documents and reports
- Extensive experience in scheduling or coordinating meetings and events

Duties and Responsibilities |
- Expected to make decisions about which visit requests may be accommodated and which ones do not meet our guidelines.
- Expected to understand and apply the state and university policies with regard to scheduling programs, conferences or services on campus.
- Serves as the Manager on Duty for the Admissions Building, serving as the daily point of contact for all operational functions including opening and closing the building, ensuring correct staffing levels for daily programs, and ensuring all interior and exterior public areas are clean and functioning appropriately.
- Will be responsible for the management and daily operations of our Front Desk (5 student interns), and Fleet Management for the Visit Program (2 carts).
- Works with 75+ tour guides on a daily basis to deliver visit program. Recruit, hire and manage the UPIP student works to cover the Front Desk.
- Promptly address all guest communication for the Visit Program including telephone, voicemail, and written inquiries for information regarding campus tours, other visit programs or admissions requests.
- Maintain accurate records and provide timely activity reports.
- Analyze tour reports and visit surveys to determine areas for improvement, ensure adequate staffing for events, and make recommendations for efficient use of staff during busy periods.
- Annually review the tour guide training manual to ensure the accuracy and consistency of the information.
