The Senior Accounting Manager will lead a team responsible for overseeing the accounting operations of multiple Network practices within the Practice Management organization. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, financial integrity, and strategic alignment with enterprise goals. The ideal candidate will be a people-first leader with a strong command of accounting principles, a passion for talent development, and the ability to influence across functions.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Lead the monthly close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting across assigned practices.

  • Oversee the preparation and review of segment-level financial statements and analytics.

  • Serve as the primary liaison for internal and external audit engagements, including SOX compliance and Risk Control Group(RCG) process development.

  • Drive enterprise-first thinking by aligning accounting practices with broader organizational goals and transformation initiatives.

Operational Excellence & Controls

  • Manage and continuously improve departmental processes to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.

  • Ensure a robust control environment, including the development and maintenance of SOX narratives and risk mitigation strategies.

  • Identify and implement McKesson best practices to streamline workflows and reduce manual effort.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key contact for business leaders and customers, providing financial insights and decision support.

  • Facilitate timely and accurate communication with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Partner with Controllers, Accounting Managers, and Senior Accountants to ensure alignment and consistency across the accounting function.

People Leadership & Talent Development

  • Build and lead a high-performing team by fostering a culture of accountability, empowerment, and continuous improvement.

  • Champion talent development by mentoring team members, identifying growth opportunities, and building succession plans.

  • Promote diversity of thought and inclusive leadership practices to strengthen team dynamics and innovation.

Process Transformation & Change Management

  • Lead or support enterprise-wide finance transformation initiatives, including automation, system upgrades, and process redesign.

  • Encourage a mindset of change readiness and adaptability within the team.

  • Use data-driven insights to challenge the status quo and elevate the standard of excellence across the organization.

Minimum Requirement

Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 9+ years of professional experience and 1+ years of supervisory and/or management experience.

Education

  • Advanced degree in accounting or finance preferred.

  • CPA preferred.

Critical Skills

  • Demonstrated mastery of full-cycle account.

  • Expert-level skills in Microsoft Excel.

  • Proven ability to effectively reach and engage diverse audiences. Skilled in coaching, mentoring, and delivering impactful training sessions.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication abilities, including the development and delivery of presentations to senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

  • Experienced in leading mid/large-scale projects and managing complex processes a s well as committed to continuous improvement with an enterprise-first mindset.

  • Skilled in attracting, selecting, and developing top-tier talent. Consistently places the right individuals in roles where they can thrive and contribute meaningfully.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while consistently meeting deadlines in fast-paced environments.

Additional Skills

  • PeopleSoft and SAP experience extremely helpful.

  • Essbase or Blackline experience beneficial.

The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$101,600 - $169,400
