Daikin Applied is seeking a Sr. Compliance Engineer - Chillers. The Sr. Compliance Engineer will interface with third-party test agencies such as ETL and UL to understand/confirm safety standards requirements as our industry migrates from UL 1995 (Standard for Safety-Heating and Cooling Equipment) to upcoming UL 60335-2-40 (Particular Requirements for Electric Heat Pumps, Air-Conditioners, and Dehumidifiers) in conjunction with UL60335-1 (Safety of Household and Similar Electrical Appliances). Location: Staunton, VA - Onsite

What you will do:



  • Provide guidance to product development engineers in the interpretation of safety code changes that are relevant to product design
  • Understand the implications of the use of A2L low flammability refrigerants to meet future low GWP refrigerant requirements
  • Work with Daikin Applied Tech Center personnel to acquire unique test equipment required for UL 60335-2-40 compliance
  • Represent safety agency activities at development team meetings throughout the New Product Introduction process
  • Prepare draft listing reports for submission to the safety agency
  • Coordinate safety agency witness testing with third-party safety agency, development engineering, and the Tech Center
  • Represent safety agency activities at development team meetings throughout the New Product Introduction process
  • Assure timely ATM (Approval to Mark) new products with safety agency listing stickers prior to first shipment
  • Coordinate ongoing maintenance to listing reports throughout the life of the product


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (preferably BSME or BSEE)
  • 3+ years' experience with related experience with safety agency testing and compliance (HVAC or refrigeration products preferred
  • Working knowledge of UL 1995 -- Standard for Safety-Heating and Cooling Equipment
  • Demonstrated product/feature/cost/quality development capability & technical personnel leadership
  • Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Familiarity with UL 60335-2-34, UL 60335-1 and UL 60335-20-40
  • Ability to speak or read Japanese

The typical annual base salary for this position ranges from $90,400-$147,400 + 10% bonus in Virginia. The range displayed represents the pay range for all positions in the job grade in which this position falls. Individual base pay will depend on a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
