This position is intended to be full time in the Summer 2026 with the possibility of starting part time in Spring 2026. Please note: HDR does not provide financial assistance for relocation or housing expenses related to this position. In the role of Civil Engineer Aviation Intern, we'll count on you to: Gain hands-on experience working on active airfield infrastructure projects, such as taxiways, runways, aprons, and drainage systems. Support design and construction efforts in compliance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) AA Advisory Circulars and airport engineering standards. Assist in preparing engineering drawings, cost estimates, and technical reports related to airfield improvements. Participate in site visits and field inspections to observe construction activities and verify compliance with design specifications. Collaborate with project teams, including recent graduates and senior engineers, through HDR's young professionals program. Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a licensed professional engineer or project manager. Contribute to other duties as needed to support the airfield design team. Preferred Qualifications Completion of at least two years toward a Civil Engineering related degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Familiarity with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Exposure to or coursework in transportation, pavement design, stormwater management, or aviation planning is a plus. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Preference given to local candidates or those with a demonstrated interest in aviation infrastructure.
