Position Summary The incumbent will be responsible for handling major and catastrophic claims in an accurate and timely manner. They will speak with restoration companies, customers and/or agents to resolve issues. Adjuster will assess situation to determine if a chargeback is needed and will also communicate settlement to customer and agent. Position is also responsible for maintaining a strong sense of urgency in responding to the needs of the customer.

- Verify and investigate all aspects of the claim to ensure legal liability of the settlement is established and accountable parties are identified.
- Determine if outside adjusting companies are needed to assist in securing the shipment.
- Determine accountable parties for each claimed item and assess a chargeback following claim policy.
- Utilize all Inventories, Contract Paperwork, contract agreements, repair firm assessments hauler/agent/helper/account//customer communication in the assessment of liability and the investigation of the claim.
- Determine cause of major damage and determine if special charge backs apply

45% Negotiation

- Handles the claims with the restoration companies and maintain contact with the booking agents and customers.
- Determine the value of claimed items, repair options vs. cash-out and pre-existing damage vs. transit related damage.
- Review carrier liability and proposed the settlement offer with the customer.
- Negotiate any disagreements in the initial offer and establish final settlement.
- All settlements must be within legal carrier liability and meet the contract terms of the move
