The Business Product Owner serves as a senior leader and strategic driver on the enterprise ID card team for United Healthcare. This role has an emphasis on enterprise-wide influence, cross-functional leadership, and strategic product ownership. You will lead the business strategy for the ID card initiatives, which includes launch readiness, defect remediation, testing coordination, and alignment with Operations and Marketing teams. You will own and evolve the product vision, backlog, and roadmap, and serve as a key liaison between business stakeholders and delivery teams. This role demands a high level of autonomy, strategic thinking, and the ability to influence across organizational boundaries.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Champion Agile development methodology across multiple scrum teams, providing strategic direction and mentorship to development and QA teams
  • Drive product strategy and roadmap aligned with enterprise goals and customer needs
  • Represent cross-functional business partners to transform vision into actionable requirements and ensure alignment across teams
  • Serve as the senior 'voice of the customer' across delivery teams, reinforcing customer-centricity throughout the product lifecycle
  • Lead business analysis efforts by gathering, documenting, and refining detailed requirements, ensuring alignment with stakeholder needs and translating them into actionable user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Own and prioritize the Product Backlog at both feature and user story levels, ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives
  • Lead backlog grooming, sprint planning, and retrospectives with a focus on continuous improvement and value delivery
  • Drive system demos and stakeholder engagement to validate product direction and gather feedback
  • Collaborate with UX, architecture, and engineering teams to shape product design and ensure technical feasibility
  • Proactively identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure delivery success
  • Ensure deliverables meet enterprise standards for quality, performance, and compliance
  • Coordinate defect remediation and testing efforts across workstreams
  • Partner with Operations and Marketing teams to ensure readiness and alignment for product launches
  • Contribute to a culture of innovation and excellence

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Product Management or related roles within the Healthcare Business/IT industry
  • 5+ years acting as a Product Owner in large-scale initiatives, with proven success in business/systems analysis, roadmap execution, and stakeholder engagement
  • Demonstrated expertise in defining and executing product strategy, including market analysis, persona development, and competitive positioning
  • Proven solid leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization
  • Proven deep understanding of healthcare domain, business practices, and financial structures
  • Proven ability to drive cost/benefit analysis and track forecast to ensure product performance
  • Experience with ID Card/ eligibility/enrollment/benefit processing is a solid asset
  • Experience supporting launch readiness and defect remediation in large-scale initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Agile tools and methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Product Owner Certification
  • Equivalent business experience

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). No matter where or when you begin a career with us, you'll find a far-reaching choice of benefits and incentives. The salary for this role will range from $110,200 to $188,800 annually based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
