As an Infection Preventionist, you will be responsible for infection prevention and control components including conducting surveillance, leading investigations of outbreaks, and education of healthcare providers and consultation with healthcare providers & other professionals. You will have a primary focus on consulting and educating healthcare providers, patients, and families on the practical methods of preventing and controlling the spread of infectious diseases with a particular focus on healthcare acquired infection prevention. In addition, you will also help with the education program design, policy and procedure development, auditing of high level disinfection and sterilization practices, and program support of performance improvement activities to promote patient safety. Position: Per Diem, Infection Preventionist Shift: Variable, 8 - 16 Hours/Week
Experience: 1. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a healthcare professional is preferred. 2. Minimum of two years infection prevention and control experience preferred. 3. Familiarity with basic Windows applications, e-mail, and MS Office Suite products.
Education: BSN, MT, or other similar bachelors degree in a health-care related field, from an accredited program is preferred.
Licensures/Certifications: Required: Certification in Infection Control (CIC) as offered by CBIC is required by January 2021 for Infection Preventionist (IP) hired prior to 2019. IPs hired after 2019 must obtain CBIC within 2-3 years of hire date (as determined by the Manager at the time of hire).
Preferred: Pennsylvania Nurse Licensure as an RN, registered by American Society Clinical Pathologists as a Medical Technologist, registered Pharmacist, or having an advanced degree in a scientifically relevant field (e.g. MPH, MS in Clinical Microbiology, MSN, etc.)
