Overview:

The Director, Patient Care Services - Registered Nurse leads, directs, and manages high-performance teams with accountability for operations, quality, customer service, and overall success of assigned departments and product lines. Areas of responsibility include Behavioral Health, Inpatient Rehab and Medsurg nursing units that directly impact hospital operations and patient experience. This role carries significant strategic and financial impact on the current and future success of Sentara Hospitals. The Director ensures operational excellence, quality outcomes, and patient-centered care while fostering engagement and professional growth among team members.

Education

  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (Required)

Certification/Licensure

  • Active RN license in state of practice or compact/multi state license (Required)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire.

Experience

  • Leading strategic and operational planning for assigned service lines, ensuring alignment with system and hospital goals.

  • Coordinating the development and implementation of new and existing services across the assigned departments and service lines.

  • Setting vision and culture, building ownership, and driving sustainable process improvements.

  • Providing leadership in fiscal management, resource allocation, and compliance with corporate and human resource policies.

  • Maintaining accountability for performance outcomes related to patient safety, experience, team member engagement, and financial stewardship.

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, located in Norfolk, VA, is a 525-bed tertiary care facility that is home to the only Level I Adult Trauma Center and burn trauma unit in Hampton Roads, and also serves as the primary teaching hospital for Eastern Virginia Medical School.
