As an Automation Engineer on the Surveillance Team, the successful candidate will play a key role in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of OXY's Surveillance Systems. The candidate shall leverage their expertise in automation technologies, PLC programming, and SCADA development to enable the maintenance and enhancement of existing automated monitoring solutions. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating surveillance hardware with software applications, ensuring smooth data collection and analysis, and leveraging their problem-solving skills to identify and resolve any issues that may arise. The candidate will be expected to work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that OXY's Surveillance Systems operate at their best consistently. Additionally, they will be expected to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders and ensure all team members stay aligned and informed. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Develop SCADA solutions with Cygnet and Iconics versions 9 and 10, integrating multiple field hardware brands for remote control and monitoring, while following automation engineering documentation requirements.
- Develop and validate the function of automation programs, Use of all forms of software such as PLC Software (Examples) RSLogix500, RSLogix5000, DirectSoft5, ROCLINK 800/DS800; programs for HMIs, Red Lion Crimson, Factory Talk View, and Panelview; program RTUs and support troubleshooting.
- Responsible for maintaining project schedules to meet timelines
- Engaged participation in project meetings and design reviews
- Responsible for maintaining the project's status reports
- Advanced understanding of facilities equipment, process flow, and automation control systems and designs. Savvy with Electrical systems, Mechanical systems, Software applications, data management, and network security, with the ability to apply knowledge and experience to offer solutions.
- Complete redlines and relevant documentation to automation engineering (C&Es, P&IDs,1-lines, etc.) to support current AS-BUILT post commissioning.
- Follow the company Management of Change (MOC) process
- Adhere to Oxy program standardization and best practices
- Support training of aspiring automation integrators on organizational processes, programming automation control systems, equipment, and documentation.
- Responsible for ensuring alarms are within the guidelines of Oxy standards, accurately represent the process, function as intended, and follow appropriate change control protocols
- Assist in the evaluation of new technologies, providing pro and con analogies
- Active participation in Oxy Process Improvement Teams
- Advanced teamwork and collaboration abilities with internal and external business units, exemplifying a responsible attitude for personal safety and the safety of co-workers, contractors, and the public
Qualifications: Experience:
- 10 + years of Oil Field experience
- 5+ years Automation Integrator/Programming experience
- 2 + years of Project Management Experience preferred
Preferred:
- 4-year technical degree (Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Automation Control Systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience).
- Advanced knowledge in developing SCADA solutions in Cygnet, Iconics version 9 and 10.
- Advanced level of understanding of automation engineering deliverables like PIDs, C&Es and basic electrical design principles.
- Advanced Knowledge & technical skills working with PLCs, HMIs, RTUs, EFMs, POCs (Allan Bradley, Totalflow, ROCs, Coriolis, etc.), and automation end devices.
- Intermediate knowledge of technical standards and guidelines (API, NEC, NFPA, IEEE, ISA, etc.)
- Advanced understanding of PSSRs (Pre-Startup Safety Review) and MOCs (Management of Change)
- Advanced understanding of automation systems and how they connect through networks
- Advanced understanding of digital and analog I/O, programming, and troubleshooting
- Proficient knowledge of analog and discrete instrumentation, and various serial and Ethernet communications protocols
- Experienced in tagging conventions, programming simulation, and testing
- Extensive knowledge of automation equipment specifications and applications
- Advanced Time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks within the constraints of timelines
- Ability to work and perform under pressure
- Ability to assist in estimating budgets and managing budgets
- Proficiencies in Leadership, Mentoring, and Training
- Advanced Communication Skills, including written, oral, and remote meeting skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Proficient skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and Windows Operating Systems
