Job Description:

Job Summary:
The Sustaining Engineer is responsible for supporting and improving existing products and processes throughout their lifecycle. This role focuses on resolving technical issues, implementing design changes, and ensuring product quality and reliability. The Sustaining Engineer collaborates with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and R&D to drive continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support for existing products, addressing field issues, customer complaints, and manufacturing challenges.
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for product and process issues.
  • Manage engineering change orders (ECOs) and coordinate design modifications to improve product performance, manufacturability, or cost.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve component obsolescence and supply chain disruptions.
  • Support quality assurance activities, including failure analysis, reliability testing, and regulatory compliance.
  • Maintain and update product documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials (BOMs).
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to drive process improvements and lean manufacturing initiatives.
  • Provide training and technical guidance to production and service teams.
  • Monitor product performance metrics and recommend enhancements based on data analysis.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 3+ years of experience in sustaining engineering, electronic modules manufacturing engineering, or product support roles.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram).
  • Familiarity with engineering change management and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in a regulated industry (e.g., medical devices, automotive, aerospace).
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience with ERP systems and data analysis tools.
