Controller - LATAM Real Estate Management Services - JLL

Location: Chicago, IL (hybrid)

What this job involves:

  • Join JLL as a Controller for LATAM Real Estate Management Services (REMS) and take ownership of a critical role that drives accounting excellence across our Americas region. This position offers an exceptional opportunity for a mid-career professional ready to make a significant impact on a Fortune 500 company's financial operations. You'll lead financial reporting, governance, and compliance activities for our integrated facilities management and project development services serving Fortune 2000 clients.
  • Working directly with the Americas REMS Controller, you'll combine technical accounting expertise with strategic thinking to enhance our financial processes while managing a team of approximately 35 professionals. This role places you at the intersection of complex commercial real estate transactions and cutting-edge financial management, positioning you for substantial career growth within JLL's dynamic global organization.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes for LATAM REMS business while ensuring zero surprises in year-end closing and maintaining SOX compliance standards
  • Direct workday 1-5 close calls and workday 5 controlling close meetings, presenting LATAM results and providing detailed commentary on period-over-period changes to senior leadership
  • Oversee the preparation of consolidated financial results and manage critical close items through comprehensive open issues tracking and timely resolution
  • Conduct value-added financial analysis against prior period performance, investigating trends and partnering with the Tableau reporting team to enhance dashboards and reporting capabilities
  • Manage and mentor approximately 35 direct and indirect reports while serving as primary liaison with REMS Client Finance organization and establishing relationships across the broader finance team
  • Collaborate with Global Technical Accounting, Finance, Tax, and Legal teams on complex accounting research including revenue recognition, compensation arrangements, and lease accounting
  • Coordinate internal and external audit processes while maintaining robust internal control environments and resolving accounting and compliance issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field with 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience
  • Active CPA certification with deep understanding of US GAAP and ability to effectively communicate complex accounting issues to finance and business leadership
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (Portuguese strongly preferred) to support LATAM operations and client relationships
  • Expert-level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint with strong financial process management and best practice implementation experience
  • Proven leadership experience managing large teams in a matrix environment with demonstrated ability to provide career guidance and performance management
  • Experience performing in-depth accounting research and translating findings into clear, analytical written communications
  • Background working within multi-national corporations and/or SEC registrants with familiarity in SOX compliance requirements

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's in Accounting (MSA) to complement CPA certification and enhance strategic business acumen
  • Experience with financial system implementations and process standardization initiatives across multiple business units
  • Background in commercial real estate, facilities management, or project development services with understanding of industry-specific accounting complexities
  • Experience with Tableau or similar business intelligence tools for financial reporting and dashboard development
  • Track record of leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects while managing diverse constituent expectations
  • Previous experience in controllership roles within global organizations or consulting environments
  • Familiarity with integrated facilities management contracts and revenue recognition for service-based business models

Estimated compensation for this position:

129,100.00 - 152,700.00 USD per year

This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
