The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Student Administrative Worker (SAW) will play a key role in supporting the EL&I team, managing a range of administrative activities to support the development and implementation of EL&I programs.

The SAW will report to the Director of EL&I and work closely with the EL&I Project Officer to facilitate the implementation of annual programs to support the development of Columbia students and faculty, including the Social Impact Fellowship, Early Career Faculty Impact Fellowship: Advancing Research and Scholarship to Action, and the Columbia Global Internship Program. The SAW will be expected to work 20 hours per week. This position will be funded through June 30, 2026.

Responsibilities




  • Administrative Support and Coordination:

    • Scheduling meetings, appointments, and coordinating room bookings.
    • Assisting with logistics for meetings, events, and program-related workshops and seminars.
    • Coordinating with vendors and suppliers.
    • Organizing electronic documents and files.



  • Relationship Management: Engage with and be responsive to colleagues across Columbia Global/Columbia World Projects, students and faculty, and other stakeholders.

  • Inventory Management: Taking inventory and ordering supplies and materials as needed.

  • Data Management: Creating and maintaining databases, reports, and spreadsheets.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High School diploma required.
  • Must be currently enrolled in a Columbia University undergraduate or graduate degree program for the duration of the position.

Preferred Qualifications



  • Superb organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills to interact effectively with staff, EL&I program participants, and program partners, internal and external to the university.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office software, platforms, and tools for data management and communication, including Google Suite.
