Lubbock TTU Post Doctoral Research Associate - Computer Science 42822BR Computer Science Position Description Performs specialized Post Doctoral work in the planning, conducting and/or supervision of original research. Responsible for participating in a research project associated with PhD studies and the interpretation of the results of publication. Work is performed under supervision of graduate faculty members with evaluation based on accomplishment of assigned objectives and overall effectiveness of project. May supervise research and student assistants. About the University Established in 1923, Texas Tech University is a Carnegie R1 (very high research activity) Doctoral/Research-Extensive, Hispanic Serving, and state-assisted institution. About the Department and/or College The Department of Computer Science has 100 PhD students, 218 Master students, and 885 undergraduate students including 474 major students and 411 foundational students as of Fall 2025. The Department of Computer Science offers four degree programs, including Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Computer Science, Master of Science in Software & Security Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Science. The department currently has 29 faculty members including 21 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and 8 teaching faculty members. For more information, please visit http://www.cs.ttu.edu/. The Whitacre College of Engineering (WCOE, https://www.depts.ttu.edu/coe/) serves approximately 5125 undergraduate and 1053 graduate students, supported by 204 faculty and instructors. The college had 856 BS, 580 MS and 84 PhD graduates in the 2024-25 fiscal year. All incoming first year students are enrolled in a common foundational curriculum for all undergraduate programs. Foundational students declare a program of choice and can move into upper division after completing the foundational classes with a TTU GPA of 2.5 or higher. The WCOE consists of the Departments of Chemical Engineering; Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering; Computer Science; Electrical & Computer Engineering; Industrial, Manufacturing and Systems Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; and Petroleum Engineering. All BS programs and the Environmental Engineering Master's program are ABET accredited. All departments have Master's and PhD programs. In 2024, the college had approximately $23 million in federal research expenditures, contributing to a total research expenditure of $49 million in the college. Major/Essential Functions We are looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join the research group and NSF Cloud and Autonomic Computing Center at Texas Tech University, Lubbock, Texas. This individual will be working on the project entitled "REPACSS: Empowering Scientific Discovery through Renewable Energy Powered Advanced Computing Systems and Services" and will work on the high performance computing cluster design, performance testing, system integration, user access and support, cluster management and operations, and maintenance tasks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities High performance computing system management, operations, user support, research and development, renewable energy production Required Qualifications PhD in area of project specialization. Knowledge of modern research practices, the methods, resources, and standards thereof. Ability to organize work effectively, conceptualize and prioritize objectives and exercise independent judgment based on an understanding of organizational policies and activities. Ability to integrate resources, policies, and information for the determination of procedures, solutions and other outcomes. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with other employees and the public. Ability to plan and allocate the workload of employees, providing direct training and supervision as needed. Preferred Qualifications Candidates with strong background in high performance computing system management, operations, user support, research and development, and knowledge and experience with renewable energy production.
