Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support a high-volume, low-mix production environment for a leading defense contractor. This role focuses on driving efficiency, improving equipment performance, and implementing automated/robotic solutions to increase process capability and throughput while maintaining the highest quality standards. This position is 100% onsite and operates on Second Shift.
Key Responsibilities
Design and optimize manufacturing processes, workflows, and production layouts to improve efficiency and reduce waste
Define sequences of operations and specify manufacturing procedures for assemblies, machining, equipment installation, and material handling systems
Adapt tooling, fixtures, and equipment designs to meet production requirements and operating conditions
Integrate inspection and testing systems into the manufacturing process to ensure product performance and reliability
Evaluate machinery performance and initiate corrective actions to address equipment or process deficiencies
Implement and support Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Statistical Process Control (SPC) methodologies
Collaborate with engineering, production, maintenance, and quality teams to support design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and continuous improvement initiatives
Program, integrate, troubleshoot, and optimize industrial robots (Fanuc, Epson, etc.) and automated systems
Utilize PLC programming to modify and optimize automated equipment controls
Support and improve automated production lines to maximize uptime, throughput, and quality
