Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
Responsible for providing assessment, evaluation, and treatment of acute care, adult medical-surgical patients under the guidance of the Hospitalist physicians.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Facilitates appropriate admissions to appropriate health system units by initiating orders, coordinating with appropriate attending physician, and moderating medication reconciliation process.
- Performs and dictates History & Physical, medical Consultation, Discharge Summary and SOAP notes as per hospitalist service standards.
- Assists with development of plan of care.
- Reviews diagnostic X-Rays, monitors lab values and other diagnostic studies.
- Performs daily rounds as assigned by Hospitalist physicians.
- Responds to Rapid Response Team (RRT) calls as assigned.
- Communicates with physicians, nursing staff, residents and other members of the medical team to maintain current and accurate updates in patient status. this will be 10-12 items
- Serves as a role model for consistent demonstration of Sparrow Health System's Customer Service Behavioral Standards of Performance, by respecting the Privacy and Confidentiality of those we serve
- Demonstrates knowledge and respects patient, service provider, organizational confidentiality and HIPAA Security procedures and protocols as defined under the HIPAA Privacy and Security Procedures
- Follows established HIPAA privacy procedures when using and/or disclosing protected health information
- Maintains and protects patients' rights under the HIPAA Privacy Standards.
Job Requirements

Current Michigan NP/PA license. Current BCLS. |

Experience in acute hospital setting preferred |
| Education |
Graduate of an accredited NP/PA program. |
| Specialized Knowledge and Skills |
Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective plan of care. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with patients, families, physicians and other hospital associates Demonstrates ability to use a keyboard as may be required to perform the essential duties of the job. |
Position Summary
University of Michigan Health-Sparrow is seeking five full-time Advanced Practice Providers (Nurse Practitioners or Physician Assistants) to join our collaborative Hospitalist team in Lansing, Michigan. Our APPs are integral members of the inpatient care team, working closely with physicians to deliver exceptional, patient-centered care across the Mid-Michigan region.

Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
- Current Michigan license and national certification (or eligibility)
- Prior inpatient or hospitalist experience preferred, but not required
