Responsibilities
Monitor and manage complex IT infrastructure systems, applications, and processes to ensure uptime, security, and performance across Windows-based environments.
Respond promptly and professionally to IT help desk incidents, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network connectivity issues. Install, configure, update, and optimize Windows Desktop and Server Operating Systems - ensuring adherence to mission requirements and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs). Support and maintain Windows Domain Services and Active Directory administration, including the creation and management of users, groups, and permissions. Execute and document IAVA responses, system security scans, and vulnerability remediations in accordance with System Security Plans. Use enterprise monitoring tools to detect, analyze, and remediate infrastructure alarms before they impact operations. Collaborate with senior system administrators, engineers, and cybersecurity specialists to support IT enhancements and optimize system performance. Maintain detailed technical documentation, process records, and reports to ensure clear communication and continuity across teams. Participate in on-call rotations and respond to critical system issues as needed.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
5+ years of direct, hands-on experience in IT system administration, customer support, and infrastructure management. Expertise with Windows Server and Desktop OS installation, updates, and upgrades. Proven experience managing Windows Domain Services, Active Directory, and Domain Administration Utilities. Demonstrated ability to analyze and implement STIG and IAVA compliance within Windows environments. Proficiency in diagnosing, analyzing, and troubleshooting Windows system and application errors. Experience with client/server architectures, network optimization, and Data Center operations (rack/stack, cabling, power, configuration). Strong written documentation skills - able to produce clear, technical reports and system logs. Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a mission-driven team environment. Willingness to travel locally (up to 25%) and occasionally to CONUS/OCONUS locations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with security standards, PKI, multiple domain architectures, and vulnerability management tools.
- Background in virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V) and on-premise data center operations.
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
- Experience supporting large, complex IT programs - ideally within an Agile or DevSecOps environment.
