Employment Type: Full-time

Shifts Available: Day Shift

Hours: 7:00am to 7:00pm

Location: St. Joseph Medical Center- Kansas City, MO

The Nursing House Supervisor is responsible for overseeing hospital operations during assigned shifts, ensuring quality patient care, compliance with policies, and efficient resource utilization. This RN role serves as the administrative representative after regular business hours and provides leadership and support to nursing staff across all units.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but are not limited to):

  • Operational Oversight:

    • Manage hospital operations during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for staff and physicians for administrative decisions.
  • Staff Coordination:

    • Allocate nursing resources based on patient acuity and census.
    • Assist with staffing adjustments and resolve scheduling conflicts.
  • Clinical Leadership:

    • Support nursing teams in delivering safe, high-quality care.
    • Respond to emergencies and critical incidents, ensuring proper protocols are followed.
  • Compliance & Quality:

    • Ensure adherence to hospital policies, regulatory standards, and infection control practices.
    • Monitor patient flow and bed availability to optimize admissions and transfers.
  • Communication:

    • Serve as liaison between departments, physicians, and administration.
    • Document significant events and decisions in shift reports.


Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

  • Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • One (1) year prior experience as a Supervisor preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years acute care nursing experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
