Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.

In this role, the successful candidate We are developing two cohorts: (1) a diverse cohort focused on the microbiome, and (2) an Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AsA-NHPI) cohort. The student intern will be responsible for daily study operations, working closely with Project Assistants.
The NYU FAMiLI Study is designed to improve our understanding of the role of the human microbiome in health and disease. The study will also serve as a critical NYU biorepository resource for research on the human microbiome. Towards this goal, the FAMiLI Study aims to build a large cohort by recruiting participants nationwide using online resources, advertising, and community outreach. Participants are provided a kit containing two questionnaires, a mouth wash collection kit, and a stool sample collection kit to complete at home.
The NYU MOSAAIC Study is the first national epidemiologic cohort of AsA-NHPI participants. The study aims to close the research gap on previously understudied AsA-NHPI populations, and learn what factors impact health and disease in AsA-NHPI populations, with a particular focus on cardiovascular health. Participants will be asked to come to NYULH for a physical exam, complete a survey, and provide biospecimens.
The Student Research Intern will assist in recruitment in the Asian American community in order to build the two diverse cohorts.

Job Responsibilities:

The individual will provide project support in the day-to-day of recruitment and follow-up activities, including:

Assist in the development of strategic plans for respective community recruitment.

Recruit participants from community sites.

Collect participant information for study enrollment and retention.

Recruit participants from community sites.

Conduct follow-up phone calls with individuals expressing interest in the study.

Attend clinic visits with participants and obtain consent.

Send, receive, and manage participant kits.

Respond to phone calls from study participants.

Process received samples and track specimens in database.

Organize and maintain case files, ensuring security of all study files.

Work with data manager on special projects and quality control procedures.

Receive study participant authorization forms.

Conduct other research study activities, as necessary.

To qualify you must have a The Student Intern must be a full-time student, or if working in the summer months (Mid-May to through Mid-September), must be planning to return to full-time status in the fall.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.50 - $20.00 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
