Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Staff Associate.

In this role, the successful candidate Position Summary:Transport mailbags via cart to and from medical center mailroom and residential mail locations. Sort mail and place in mailboxes. Update lists and rosters as needed and report any discrepancies or problems with mailbox use, additional persons receiving mail, etc. Log packages, provide package notices to tenants, and provide package information to building Security desk as required. Assure compliance with relevant US Postal Service regulations. Forward mail for past tenants. Must work reliably and conscientiously in off-site locations, and largely without direct supervision. Interact appropriately with all levels of faculty, staff and students in the Medical Center. Provide excellent customer service. Assist Real Estate and Housing staff with special projects as requested.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Customer ServiceIn a pleasant and appropriate manner, respond to tenants and staff inquiries and complaints. Communicate complaints or other issues to other mail clerks or to Housing management as indicated.
  • Mail Handling and Departmental SupportA.Create and maintain lists, rosters, package logs, etc. B. Demonstrate pro-active work and timely follow-up on pending issuesC.Accurately use computer software, programs, and other computer functions required for mail handling. D.Work cooperatively and proactively with other mail clerks and with Real Estate and Housing team members. E.Fulfill compliance with relevant U.S. Postal Service regulations and medical center policies. F.Ensure that other mail and Security staff understand and are able to access records as needed and as appropriate. G.Ensure security of data, mail, and packages. H.Prepare routine forms and lists. I.Forward mail as required. J.Sign in and out of work each day, inform supervisors about lunch break or temporary absences from job site, etc. K.Adjust work hours as requested to fit with mail and package service requirements. L.Assist with additional projects as requested.
  • Judgment and Decision-MakingA.Demonstrate good judgment and courtesy in interactions with all levels of students, faculty, and staffB.Maintain confidentiality as appropriate. C.Recognize problems, potential problems, or sensitive matters, and inform supervisors immediately. D.Plan work in advance, meet deadlines, follow up on unresolved issues, keeps Housing management and co-workers informed

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Minimum Qualifications:High School graduate. Very good English skills (reading, writing and speaking). Position requires mail transporting, mail sorting, mail forwarding, package log ins, customer service, accurate record-keeping. Excellent attendance and punctuality is required.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred Qualifications:Associates degree in related field preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $34,467.63 - $57,384.86 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
