Responsibilities
Forest View Hospital, located just seven miles southeast of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, is a private 108 bed psychiatric facility that serves children, adolescents and adults. We are licensed by the State of Michigan, fully accredited by The Joint Commission and we bring more than 45 years of experience to the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of behavioral health problems. As a part of our continued success and growth, we are seeking qualified applicants for a Housekeeping Supervisor position. Under the direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Housekeeper Supervisoris responsible for planning organizing and developing the overall operation of housekeeping in accordance with federal, state, and local standards and guidelines. Assuring patients, guests, and staff receive the highest quality of service at all times. Responsible for staffing, scheduling, training, professional development, and retention. Hours: 8am to 5pm, with some weekends required. Essential Job Responsibilities:

- Meets all competency and education requirements annually per department and UHS guidelines, which will include age specific-growth and development competencies.
Housekeeping/Laundry Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Oversees the daily activities of the Housekeeping staff to include appropriate cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, nursing units, clinical areas, waiting areas, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, and corridors.
- Ensure adequate inventory levels of cleaning products. Monitors appropriate use and procedures.
- Performs terminal/detailed cleaning of patient rooms when required to ensure a germ-free environment and to enhance patient and employee safety as needed and required.
- Monitors the quality and completion of work assignments to ensure efficient levels of productivity.
- Monitors equipment to ensure safety when using, reporting repair issues and concerns. Assists visitors with directions whenever requested.
- Develops and maintains departmental policies and procedures, as required.
- Responds to environmental emergencies.
- Reports safety hazards as appropriate.
- Monitors the safe transportation of trash and hazardous waste to appropriate disposal area.
- Models infection control practices including hand washing techniques, Standard Precautions and isolation precautions.
- Establishes and maintains quality and safety standards.
- Works in a collaborative manner with department personnel to achieve departmental and hospital wide objectives,
- Maintains standards for area of responsibilities in compliance with JCAHO and other regulatory bodies.
- Recruit, hire, and train new housekeeping associates
- Perform staff reviews and encourage teamwork among staff
- Resolve customer problems and complaints
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Safety Responsibilities:
- Models personal safe work habits by adhering to the following requirements:
- Report any/all safety concerns to Risk Management Director, Maintenance and/or EOC Committee member.
- If injured, will report immediately to the supervisor and to Sedgwick, our third party administrator.
- Will abide by and model safe work habits that are consistent with the Hospital's Safety Policies
- If work related accident results in a back injury, employee will be required to go complete the Back Injury Prevention Training.
- If injured, will abide by the Return to Work/Light Duty Program guidelines.

Qualifications
Minimum Skills, Experience, Licensure, Job and Educational Requirements:

- High School Diploma required.
- 3-5 Years of applicable experience.
- 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
- Knowledge of the function and department process.
- Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to prioritize and adjust work assignments as needed to meet the needs of the hospital.
- A valid Michigan driver's license.
