ACNO - Assistant CNO - Corona Regional Medical Center

The Assistant Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO) functions under the direction and in support of the Chief Nursing Officer in providing leadership, planning, direction, coordination, and operations for the departments assigned and for nursing practices and processes. The ACNO supports nursing and patient care to ensure that delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care consistent with the mission, vision, and values of Corona Regional Medical Center and in accordance with government regulation, licensing and accreditation requirements. The ACNO supports and collaborates and coordinates nursing standard processes to ensure quality care is delivered and program growth is accomplished in a cost effective way. The ACNO participates with the CNO in the development of the nursing strategic plan and contributes to the achievement of institutional goals and objectives by leading teams to drive successful outcomes. The ACNO supports the vision for nursing services from both corporate and local perspective and functions as a change agent to improve and promote quality care and improve outcomes.

Qualifications

EDUCATION/TRAINING/ EXPERIENCE:

BSN degree required. MSN or Master's in related field required, or in progress.

Five (5) years of acute care experience as a Registered Nurse with demonstrated management or leadership abilities.

Five (5) years of director level or equivalent experience in an acute care setting.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of California.

Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.

Specialty Certification preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, patients, staff and the general public. Writes minutes for meetings in an ongoing and timely manner.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Able to direct teams to improve scores and coach critical thinking skills.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.

Consultative / supportive role model in clinical specialty, demonstrates clinical competency in clinical judgment, technical skills and knowledge base, and directs staff in application of such.

Knowledge of Nurse Practice Act, Title XXII, and JCAHO.

Accountable for skill development in department.

Demonstrates emergency effectiveness.

Advanced certification in clinical specialty encouraged for staff.
