Position Objective:

The coating technician requires a self-starter working with a minimum of supervision. This individual will ensure that the following systems are maintained, Support equipment, PLC control equipment, Heating Systems, Internal Coater Components. The technician will have working knowledge of coating operations, this includes Coater tube lot number assignment, product spreadsheet, monitor and monitor met results for Research and Development Spreadsheets, Housing wall angle and deviation tracking. Work assignments will include operation of all the equipment associated with the coating area, working within written procedures, and gaining a thorough understanding of the process and its impact on other production processes. Employee must be conscientious and accurately maintain process and accountability records.

Responsibilities:



  • Daily maintenance
  • Preventive maintenance scheduling and execution.
  • Understand basics of product schedule, mix, and associated paperwork to meet requirements as assigned by supervision.
  • Understand nozzle identification and oversee the assignment of nozzles to meet specific product requirements as assigned by supervision.
  • Setup and breakdown coating reactor
  • Operate computerized coating control system
  • Monitor process and react to problems both from a condition and maintenance standpoint.
  • Evaluate coated product for acceptability
  • Complete processing records and related documentation using spreadsheet and word processor efficiently
  • Schedule and perform both scheduled and corrective maintenance on coaters
  • Maintain and operate and maintain support equipment such as dust collector, cooling system, and gas supplies
  • Work with management in solving equipment or processing problems.
  • Maintain coating supply inventories. Recognize and react to inventory and quality issues before process is affected.
  • Assist in development of new products or technology
  • Participate in writing procedure and process documentation
  • Operate engine lathe, requiring standing for periods of time
  • Suggest process and equipment improvements
  • Relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: (a) can get along with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; (b) respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
  • Manage time effectively
  • Provide backup assistance, as needed with weekly schedule of team's work


Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:



  • 5 years maintenance background with experience with PLC controls, Electromechanical systems, Baghouse, Cooling towers.
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a GMP chemical processing or vacuum coating operation (pyrolytic carbon coating especially preferred).
  • Two years college course work in chemistry, math, or electronics may be substituted for all, but five years in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using Microsoft Windows computer operating environment including ability to navigate file structures (folders, directories, files, etc...). Microsoft Word and Excel experience required.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and follow written instructions
  • Ability to interpret and follow oral instructions
  • Required to read, write and speak English with good command of the language, and use simple math.
  • Basic computer skills including at minimum, be proficient in use of MS Office, internet, and electronic mail
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Able and willing to work 2nd and 3rd shifts as needed.
  • Able and willing to work overtime.
