UGSI Chemical Feed, Inc. Electrical Engineer – Level I, is an entry level position. Under the direction of the Engineering Manager, this position will work closely with Project Management, Applications Engineering, Purchasing/Planning and Manufacturing to execute standard and custom projects within the North American water/wastewater markets. The Electrical Engineer will design industrial control panels by preparing layouts, schematics, bills of material (“BOM”), component specifications and diagrams while maintaining high quality and accuracy, as well as providing support to engineers and manufacturing personnel. Other responsibilities include working in the factory troubleshooting and testing equipment.  This position will work in an internally-focused role to develop engineering and technical submittals, project BOMs, and Instruction Manuals for assigned projects.

The position is based at Chemical Feed’s Vineland, New Jersey facility, with occasional visits to customer jobsites and other company locations as required.

Essential Job Functions
  • Responsible for all electrical documentation administered over multiple projects, working with the appropriate Project Manager and/or Operations team.
  • Read and interpret customer specifications and drawings.
  • Specify parts, create schematics and generate BOMs, wiring diagrams and panel layout documents for both standard and custom panel designs.
  • Assist Applications Engineering in preparing quotes for control panels during the design and bid phases of a project.
  • Provide guidance and support for any in-house assembly or design of control panels.
  • Program, quality test, and field test multiple platforms of PLCs and HMIs.
  • Travel between company facilities and, on occasion, to customer sites.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Candidate must have a firm understanding of electrical engineering principles and practices.  
  • Understand drafting practices and procedures.
  • Good organizational, planning and problem-solving capability.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills with effective use of visual aids.
  • Strong analytical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and P&IDs.
  • Ability to manage multiple activities at the same time.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or SolidWorks Electrical software.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate the equipment and tools required for this position.
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it responds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to look at computer monitors for much of the workday.
 
Work Environment
  • Approximately 70% Office
  • Approximately 25% Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
  • Approximately 5% Customer jobsites – May be exposed to a variety of weather elements as well as areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities.
  • Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.

This is an exempt position. The base compensation for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 on an annualized basis. Compensation is dependent on experience and skill level.
