Senior Operations Manager

Overseeing the
daily operations and long-term strategic planning of the organization to ensure
efficiency, quality and cost-effective management of resources. This role works
closely with executive leadership to drive operational excellence, implement best
practices, and support business growth across all departments. Lead cross-functional
teams, manages key performance metrics, and ensures compliance with
organizational policies and regulatory standards.

Starting as a hardware supply store during the California Gold Rush and eventually assisted in the birth of the aerospace industry in Southern California by providing aircraft aluminum to early aerospace pioneers like Lindbergh, Douglas and Lockheed.

Today Ducommun is a global provider of innovative manufacturing solutions for customers in the aerospace, defense and industrial markets. We specialize in electronic and structural systems, producing complex products and components for commercial aircraft platforms, mission-critical military and space programs, and sophisticated industrial applications.

Our Facility in St. Croix Falls, WI offers a range of ammunition handling & delivery systems supporting the full spectrum of small and medium caliber weapons.

Job Summary

  • Develop and implement operational strategies, policies, and procedures to drive efficiency and scalability
  • Lead and supervise department managers and cross-functional teams to meet performance goals and KPIs
  • Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
  • Collaborate with finance, HR, and other departments to align operations with company objectives
  • Oversee budget planning, cost control, and resource allocation to ensure financial health
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations, standards, and internal policies
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks through proactive planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Drive employee engagement, talent development, succession planning within the operations team
  • Report on operational performance to executive
    leadership and recommend strategic adjustments
  • Evaluate and analyze human and machine resources continually to assure operations capabilities can meet company goals and strategic vision
  • Develop and keep current an operational strategic plan to meet current and long-term company goals
  • Identify and recommend capital equipment to
    assure operational success, safety and efficiency
  • Responsible for storing and handling all Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) appropriately to prevent unauthorized access, dissemination, or use of this information or documentation
  • Support all visitor and security policies to protect ITAR/EAR/CMMC/CUI information, documents, product, etc. from unauthorized access by informing management immediately of any concerns
  • Responsible for the proper handling and management of hazardous waste generated in employee's work area
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Regular and acceptable attendance and is an
    essential function of this job

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills with a
    proven ability to manage manufacturing teams in a fast-paced environment

    management skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills,
    both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage
    multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with
    operational software systems and tools (e.g. ERP, CRM, analytics
    dashboards
  • Ability to maintain and
    project a positive attitude especially when stress levels are high

Required Experience and Education

  • H.S. Diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration,
    Operations Management, or a related field
  • 5-8 years of experience in operations environment,
    with at least 3 years in leadership role
  • Proven experience in process improvement methodologies
    (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma)
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and complex
    projects
  • Demonstrated success in budget management and cost
    control
  • Experience with compliance standards relevant to the
    industry (e.g. ITAR, ISO, OSHA, etc.)

ITAR/EAR Compliance: This position requires access to export-controlled information and/or hardware, and candidates must be U.S. Persons that comply with all U.S. Export control laws and regulation. As such, U.S. citizenship, U.S. lawful permanent resident status, protected person status under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or the ability to meet ITAR and EAR requirements is required.
