The Design for Manufacturing team are an essential part of the NAM New Products & Test Team (NP&T) .

The NP&T team consists of highly skilled Manufacturing Delivery Capability Managers (program managers), Procurement team including Purchasing Capability Managers & NPI program Buyers responsible for developing, delivering the New Product supply base purchasing materials for the prototype builds in Oulu Finland & the Test Engineering Team that are responsible for designing the Manufacturing Hardware & Software Test solutions for the prototype & volume test activities.

We are seeking a highly motivated and results-oriented Manufacturing DFx & Quality Engineer with a passion for quality and efficiency to join our team.

As a Manufacturing DFx Engineer, you are responsible for ensuring that the Design for Manufacturability requirements and program specific targets are taken into account in the new product development phase.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Define DfM targets and collaborate with Design Engineering and manufacturing teams to ensure product designs are manufacturable and meet quality standards.
  • Conduct process capability studies and implement process improvements
  • Develop and maintain quality control plans and procedures
  • Lead root cause analysis and corrective action activities
  • Support new product launches through the APQP process
  • Monitor and analyze product quality data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure compliance with quality management system requirements
  • Drives best practices and lessons learned implementation in product design.
  • DfM Lessons-to-Learn collection and utilization to new projects. Improve and maintain DfM expert and Requirements Engineering network.
  • Design and implement Final Assembly & Packaging process in accordance with Manufacturing requirements and Continuous Improvement concept's.
  • Create product specific BA/FA Production Process Description and production related documentation (FS, DCC etc.). Ensure DfM target realization by analyzing volume production performance and capacity.
  • Provide support to production ramp-up phase. Utilize tools to evaluate/ conduct Value Analysis of a design & product through the design & production phase.
  • Travel: up to 20%


You have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) processes and applications, Automotive Quality and/or APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) Engineer within the Telecommunications or Automotive industry.
  • Proven knowledge of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) process, including FMEA, PPAP, control plans, and process capability studies.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical manufacturing processes, including but not limited to: Machining, Welding, Assembly & Stamping
  • Demonstrated experience in Electronics manufacturing processes are required, including but not limited to: Surface Mount Technology manufacturing, Thermal Solder Reflow Process, Automated Optical Inspection & XRAY inspection
  • Proficiency in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) with analytical skills.
  • The ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    With good working knowledge of Design for Manufacturing, DFM, APQP, FMEA, PPAP, GD&T, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC processes & tools.
  • The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced R&D and manufacturing environment.
