CAS is currently seeking a Manager, Application Technology. This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Job Accountabilities:



  • Build, develop, and manage high-performing cross-functional application delivery teams that create and operate software and systems providing business value. Provide direction in accordance with established policies and management guidance, taking a comprehensive approach to identifying problems, understanding their implications, and creating solutions that support departmental initiatives.
  • Provide people management, including hiring, performance management, coaching, development, and termination decisions. Facilitate team self-organization, promote empowerment, and ensure each team member is fully engaged and makes meaningful contributions. Participate in workforce planning and recruitment activities.
  • Drive talent development through coaching and mentoring of individual team members and team leaders. Develop and implement career paths, educate team members on their roles and team objectives, and facilitate networking and relationship building across the company.
  • Develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and learning adopted by teams. Ensure sustainable pace with high levels of quality by visibly defining "done" and facilitating team, program, and organizational working agreements.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership and accountability by representing the Technology Division to executive leadership. Work closely with Technology management to ensure alignment of activities with business commitments and organizational goals.
  • Lead the development and implementation of projects that impact the functional area with a limited number of sponsors and stakeholders. Identify opportunities for business process improvements within project scope and manage project teams as needed.
  • Leverage organizational resources to improve capacity for project work. Drive organizational optimization by addressing external factors that impact team delivery, utilizing previous experience to identify suitable options or refine existing approaches.
  • Contribute to budget planning for the assigned area and monitor costs related to their own work area and team. Assist Technology and Finance in developing cost allocation and budgeting models. May serve as sub-departmental budget holder.
  • Interact with subordinates, functional peer groups, and internal/external customers, requiring the ability to gain cooperation and conduct presentations of technical information concerning specific projects or schedules. Build stable relationships internally and externally.
  • Manage the implementation of existing principles and contribute to the development of new processes for the functional area. Support the achievement of goals through the influence of others and maintain accountability for results impacting the functional area.
  • Perform other duties as required.


Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Management Information Systems, or related field OR equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience in related discipline
  • Minimum 8 or more years of relevant experience in Information Technology
  • Minimum 2 years or more experience in a lead or supervisor position
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in application development or adjacent roles (e.g., DevOps)
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience building and supporting high-volume, high-availability customer-facing applications

  • Apply strategic and creative thinking to tactical assignments. Provides input to work unit goals and objectives with a focus on implementing department plans and ensuring quality and customer success.
  • Maintain a deep understanding of application development methodologies, DevOps principles, and high-availability system design. Leverages organizational resources to drive optimization with knowledge of cost allocation and budgeting.
  • Make decisions with latitude of discretion guided by established processes that directly impact functional area performance. Accountable for varied and non-routine work results.
  • Typically reports to Senior Level Management while providing direction and management guidance to assigned team members.
