Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Health Professions ( SHP) is seeking a Speech Therapist I to work in the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences.

The Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences has a strong history of education-based clinical services and continuously strives to increase its capacity for excellence in clinical practice, teaching and research. As a Center for Rehabilitation Excellence, this Department is focused on the evolution of our clinical spaces and labs, being in the forefront of education in physical and occupational therapy and speech-language pathology and conducting research to optimize patient care and outcomes.
The Speech Therapist I will provide high-quality, culturally-responsive clinical supervision for graduate students in this 5-semester, entry-level SLP Master's program. The Speech Therapist I will also provide managerial leadership for the pro bono clinics of the RMS department, for SLP, OT and PT assisting with recruiting, scheduling and follow up of potential and current clients.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • As a licensed Speech therapist, provides services to patients in SHP Speech pro bono clinic.
  • Provides clinical supervision for graduate students in the 5 semester entry level SLP Masters program.
  • Oversees the operational requirements of the SLP clinic in all aspects of recruitment and scheduling and follow-up. Provides administrative support for outreach and scheduling for the OT and PT free clinic services.
  • Assists faculty in access to data for scholarship purposes.
  • Actively supports interprofessional activities and programming across SHP.
  • Promotes professionalism by modeling and encouraging such behaviors inside and outside the classroom setting.
  • Supports and exemplifies the University's core values.
  • Upholds and enforces student and faculty handbook policies and University policies/procedures.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers' compliance standards as they appear in RBHS's Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in speech-language pathology.
  • Two (2) or more years of clinical experience.

Certifications/Licenses

  • Valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and Master's Degree/ Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology MS/CCC.
  • Must be licensed as a Speech Language Pathologist by the State of New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety, Division of Consumer Affairs.
  • Must be appropriately credentialed, possess an earned degree from an accredited institution, and be licensed in order to teach in the SLP program.
  • Must also have current ASHA clinical certification.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must be able to drive to the homes of clients in Essex County.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5 years clinical practice experience as a speech-language Pathologist preferred.
  • Prior evidence with clinical supervision of graduate students in speech-language pathology preferred.
  • Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish) is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • This job is in active patient clinic and requires significant movement throughout the day with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling.
  • Have close visual acuity for working on a computer (e.g., extensive typing and reading). Job requires possibly frequent interruptions or distractions with a need to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate.
  • Ability to interact appropriately with colleagues for different purposes in different contexts.
