Summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking an hourly Labor Foreman to support various projects across the Charlotte region. The Labor Foreman plays a key role in performing hands-on construction tasks while assisting the Superintendent in coordinating subcontractors and supervising Balfour Beatty laborers and trade workers on-site.

This position is responsible for overseeing daily field activities, monitoring work performance, progress, and productivity, and ensuring all tasks meet company quality standards, safety requirements, and client expectations. The Labor Foreman directly leads and supports crews in completing assigned phases of construction efficiently and safely while promoting a culture of teamwork and excellence.

Essential Functions



  • Study production schedules and estimate worker-hour requirements for completion of job
    assignment.
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforce safety regulations.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints and job orders to workers and assign duties.
  • Establish and adjust Laborers' schedules to meet production schedule.
  • Supervise Balfour Beatty labor crews.
  • Supervise composite clean- up crews.
  • Schedule and call for dumpster pulls.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) with crew.
  • Conduct tool box safety talks.
  • Can serve on Project Safety Team.
  • Motivate Laborers to meet work goals.
  • Train new Laborers.
  • Mentor and support development of subordinates.
  • Communicate company policies for Laborers and enforce safety regulations.


Minimum Requirements



  • Valid driver's license and transportation.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years experience to do the essential functions and demonstrate proficiency with little
    supervision and little direction and is expected to make some decisions.
  • Work within the standards of accuracy designated by the project.
  • Apply common sense to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or schedule
    form.
  • Speak English.
  • 10-hour OSHA trained.
  • First Aid and CPR trained.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be able to write with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar.
  • Must be able to read safety rules, instructions in the use and maintenance of tools and equipment, and methods and procedures in blueprint drawing and layout work.
  • Understand three-dimensional drawings.
  • Follow oral and written instructions, solve practical problems.
  • Write with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar.
  • Understand safety rules and tool / equipment instructions.


Preferred Requirements



  • High-school Diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Experience operating basic construction equipment.
  • Flexible schedule to work days/nights and weekends as needed.
