Position Summary: Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Counseling Shared Services, this position effectively captures patient liabilities while providing financial counseling to patients/guarantors, who require assistance in seeking and applying for healthcare funding (e.g., Charity Care, or other local/governmental assistance programs) and/or require assistance in reviewing and establishing payment options prior-to-service, at time-of-service, and/or post-service. Determines the financial status of the patient during the financial counseling process and coordinates benefit authorization and management. Ensures compliance and exceptional customer service when working with patients/guarantors. Contributes to the success of a high-performing shared services organization by helping to drive the long-term Johns Hopkins Medicine Shared Services vision. Helps foster an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized. Education: Requires High School Diploma or equivalent. Licensure/Certifications: Certified Application Counselor (CAC) certification within 6 - 12 months Work Experience: Minimum of two years' experience in hospital or clinic environment, an insurance company, managed care organization or other financial service setting, performing financial counseling, financial clearance and/or customer service activities. Completion of regulatory/mandatory certifications and skills validation competencies preferred Knowledge:Skills:
Salary Range: Minimum 18.59/hour - Maximum 30.69/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. In cases where the range is displayed as a $0 amount, salary discussions will occur during candidate screening calls, before any subsequent compensation discussion is held between the candidate and any hiring authority.
