Primary Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Clinic Administrator, administrative supervisor and nurse supervisor, the Patient Care Coordinator performs both varied clerical and clinical roles to support physician(s) practice and patients. Administrative duties include scheduling surgical cases, scheduling office visits, verifying insurance benefits and interpreting medical plan benefits to maximize collections. Other administrative duties include secretarial support for physician(s). Clinical duties include supportive patient care functions for an assigned clinical area (under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational Nurse), ensuring the safety and comfort of patients and families according to legal, organizational and professional standards. Some duties may be delegated to the Patient Care coordinator by the physician or RN.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Those hired into this position must complete the review/skill validation program within 180 days of hire
  • 2+ years of insurance medical business administration experience
  • 2+ years of previous KSC experience or 2+ years of secretarial experience
  • 1+ years of direct face-to-face customer service experience
  • 6+ months of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • PC experience
  • Computer experience
  • CPT/ICD coding, Medical terminology
  • Typing skills 40 WPM with 10 or fewer errors and basic math ability
  • Alpha/Num Forms Entry
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Basic Medical & Nursing terminology
  • Ability to use equipment and related supplies for selected patient population

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assistant program, Associate or bachelor's degree
  • Successfully completed externship at Kelsey-Seybold
  • Certified or Registered as a Medical Assistant
  • Those hired from Externship must obtain certification within 1 year of employment
  • Billing/claims experience
  • Ambulatory Care experience
  • EPIC experience
  • Typing skills 55 WPM with 5 or fewer errors. 10-key by touch
  • Ability to speak/understand Spanish

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $17.74 to $31.63 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
