Site Overview:

Our High Point, North Carolina facility is a non union manufacturing plant with approximately 55 employees. The site specializes in producing polyurethane foam and other foam products. As a key location within FXI's manufacturing network, the High Point plant is known for its strong focus on quality, safety, and operational excellence. Team members work in a collaborative, supportive environment where continuous improvement and innovation play a central role.

Job Overview:

The Yard Switcher is responsible for safely and efficiently moving trailers, containers, and other equipment within the facility's yard and dock areas. This role ensures trailers are positioned correctly for loading/unloading, maintains accurate yard inventory, and supports smooth warehouse and transportation operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Move trailers to and from dock doors, staging areas, and parking spots using a yard truck/spotter truck.
• Ensure proper trailer placement to support loading and unloading schedules.
• Perform pretrip and posttrip inspections on yard trucks and report mechanical issues.
• Maintain yard organization, including tracking trailer locations and updating yard logs or software systems.
• Communicate with warehouse staff, drivers, and dispatch regarding trailer availability and placement.
• Verify trailer status, such as empty, loaded, sealed, or damaged.
• Assist with yard safety by monitoring traffic flow and ensuring compliance with site procedures.
• Support gate operations when needed, including checking in/out drivers and completing related paperwork.
• Assist Material Handlers in loading and unloading truck and trailers
• Other duties as assigned

Skills / Qualifications:

• Experience operating a yard truck, hostler, or similar equipment (preferred or required depending on company).
• Knowledge of DOT, OSHA, and yard safety procedures.
• Ability to reverse, maneuver, and park trailers safely in tight areas.
• Strong communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Basic ability to read, write, and complete logs or digital entries.
