Job Title:Post-Doctoral Associate

Position Summary:
The Department of Biostatistics & Bioinformatics (B&B) at the Duke University School of Medicine engages in methodological and collaborative research, providing international and regional leadership in biostatistics, genomics, biomedical informatics, artificial intelligence and health data science.The department is seeking a full-time Post Doctoral Associate to join Dr. Wenpin Hou's research team with the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:



  • Develop and implement novel computational and statistical methods (deep learning and transformers, spatiotemporal data modeling, functional data analysis, Bayesian models, and network modeling) to analyze complex data types in genomics and data science, such as single-cell genomics, epigenomics, multiomics, spatial transcriptomics, and spatial multiomics data, with a goal of understanding gene regulation and improve human health.


  • Devise and implement state-of-the-art methods on expansive datasets from sources like NIH-funded initiatives and major consortium projects.


  • Collaborate in the integration and analysis of multimodal data sources, combining imaging data, multiomics data, and other related real-world data, to solve challenging problems in omics and health research.


  • Contribute to the publication of research findings in high-impact journals and conferences.


  • Advise graduate and undergraduate students in the research group and other activities related to the research program of Dr. Wenpin Hou in the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Ph.D. in Quantitative Biology and Medicine



Appointment Details:



  • Full-time, 12-month position with possibility of renewal.
