2026 Summer Intern - Public Affairs & Access: Evidence for Access (Policy, Evidence & Access Strategy)

Department Summary

Public Affairs & Access is a multi-disciplinary organization that includes Access Solutions & Patient Support; Channel & Contract Management; Corporate Communications; External Affairs; Patient Strategy; Policy, Evidence & Access Strategy; and Strategic Business Operations. Our mission is to drive positive change in the healthcare system so that every patient can access our science. We lead the development of meaningful partnerships, forward-looking pricing, contracting and distribution strategies, and proactive policy solutions that advance a more equitable and hopeful future for all of those who need our therapies.

This position is based in South San Francisco, CA, On-Site.

The Opportunity

  • Engage in a variety of activities, including development of study descriptions, data analysis plans, abstracts and manuscripts

  • Read and synthesize literature regarding a specific disease, medical, or policy intervention

  • Gain hands-on experience in designing, developing and communicating health economic models

  • Apply research methodologies to develop and evaluate data to support evidence needs for our products

  • Manage analyses that provide information on the costs and benefits of medical interventions to support product and market development, reimbursement

  • Assess external landscape and work with internal stakeholders to identify evidence gaps in response to current or proposed policy.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June (Summer)

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are (Requirements)

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree (not currently enrolled in a graduate program).

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required Majors: PharmD, MPH/MS/PhD; Economics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Public Policy, Health Services Research, Health Outcomes Research, or other related disciplines.

Required Skills

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion

  • Experience and coursework in economic modeling, multivariable methods, study design, domestic healthcare systems and public policy

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

  • R,SQL, or Python experience.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $31- $46/hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
