As a recognized expert, the Medical Planner is a thought leader through all stages of a project; leads a team(s) of planners to deliver exceptional projects by leveraging industry experience and technical acumen to drive projects from concept through build. They may play a larger role in the marketing; business development; and management of the organization. Work products and project deliverables meet SmithGroup standards. On-time delivery of project objectives and deliverables. Alignment of organization's quality standards to project teams work product or project delivery. Serves as a resource providing guidance on unusual or complex issues. Provides specific subject matter medical planning expertise to multiple teams across the firm. Directly responsible for planning, programming, space planning, and integrated design solutions. Conducts quality reviews and enforces guidelines. Directs team members in the application of codes and regulatory requirements. Manages multiple project teams and projects. Coordinates work effort and development of workplans. Aligns and assigns the work to be performed by medical planning staff on project related work. Provides planning leadership on office's largest healthcare projects, while concurrently overseeing and providing guidance on multiple small to medium-scale projects. Supervises the preparation of complete planning/programming document sets. Contributes to the schematic design of projects while responsible for functional aspects of the proposed solutions. Contributes to decisions about marketing pursuits. Participation (as required) in marketing efforts through proposal development, interview participation and presentations. Develops and maintains relationships with clients. Participates and presents thought leadership innovations at conferences and publications. Takes a leadership role in a local professional associations. Actively represents knowledge sharing, displaying open and timely exchange of significant ideas and information. Ensures various tools are available to contribute knowledge (i.e. facilitates lunch and learn presentations, inKNOWvations courses, development coaching, etc.). Mentors junior staff and participates in performance coaching. Directs team members and others in the application of medical planning standards and guidelines. Monitors, trains and provides oversight to the work performed by the project team. Participates in the recruitment and interviewing process as requested. Telecommuting is permitted up to 2 days per week. Regional travel may be required, less than 5% of the work time



Minimum requirement: a bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent degrees accepted) in architectural engineering, or any related field of study, and six years of progressive experience in any related occupation working on large health care projects as an architect or medical planner. Evidence-Based Design Accreditation and Certification (EDAC) is also required. Basic annual pay range is ninety-five thousand dollars to one hundred eighteen thousand, five hundred dollars for full-time employment and standard company benefits.
