Overall Summary

This position requires very close work and alignment with key Executives and serves as the principal resource to align the Key Executive and their staff, cross-functional teams, external partners, and vendors to insure the successful achievement of the Executives key organizational priorities.

The Principal, Strategic Programs is responsible and accountable for achieving successful outcomes with key strategic and tactical organizational work and programs working cross functionally and with external partners and vendors as needed. This position develops and applies advanced concepts, techniques, principles, theories, and standards and is viewed as an expert within the organization. In addition, this position works as a proxy for Executive Leadership and is empowered to make necessary decisions for the organization as well as direct and influence the work of others. The Principal, Strategic Programs works on and develops solutions to problems of high complexity which require a high degree of ingenuity, creativity, experience, and innovation. This position must bring a clear sense of urgency and demonstrate a proven track record of tracking and driving successful systems, processes, work product and outcomes across the organization.

Your duties will include:



  • This role is responsible and accountable for leading, guiding and facilitating the successful outcomes of the Executives key organizational priorities.
  • This role is responsible for developing and applying proven methodologies to support the business in meeting focused goals and objectives
  • This role is responsible for providing project and workflow management across the business, as assigned.by Executive management.
  • This role is responsible for aligning, synchronizing, and driving the team's efforts towards achieving and completing work and projects to support business strategy and company performance objectives.
  • This role will partner with cross functional teams, external partners, and vendors to maintain alignment across all in driving results and deliverables.
  • This role will foster and implement a continuous improvement methodology.



Technical Responsibilities



  • Principle programs leader for complex orthopedic reconstruction implantable devices and instruments.
  • Collaborates and communicates with key Executives, project sponsors and stakeholders to ensure the end product and processes will solve the business need.


  • Direct responsibility for strategic and tactical execution to drive objectives that support the operational, financial and competitive goals of the organization.


  • Develops, maintains, and drives completion to project and work deliverable schedules


  • Ensures that cross-functional resources are assigned and held accountable for task and outcome completion.


  • Leads and conducts Programs and Project Status Meetings, Systems Requirements Meetings, Vendor Review Meetings, and other cross functional meetings, as needed. Documents the proceedings and follows up on any incomplete action items.


  • Provides direct and regular communication to management on project and work status relative to the schedule, budget, risks, opportunities, and issues.
  • Works to directly resolve all issues possible without having to involve key Executives.
  • Provides feedback to functional department heads on an ongoing basis and during the strategic planning process and the performance management process.


  • Fosters an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement, and best practices throughout the organization, across external partners, and with vendors.

Technical skill requirements include:



  • Strong understanding of Orthopedic commercialization and sales channels
  • Working knowledge of GMP regulations and familiarity of manufacturing processes
  • Experience with metal manufacturing processes (CNC, castings, etc.), robotics, metal finishing, chemical finishing, packaging, and assembly
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles and Philosophies as presented at MicroPort Orthopedics
  • Ability to lead teams through various work project assignments



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: What you will need (must have):



  • Proficiency utilizing the MS Office Suite (Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint).
  • Problem-solving ability with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in working independently, providing multiple solutions to problems and effectively integrating systems and processes.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, upbeat, creative, and resourceful.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership, management, and collaboration qualities.



PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: What you will need (strongly desired):

Project Management Professional Certification (PMP)



YOUR EDUCATION

Required: BS degree in Engineering, Marketing or Business or equivalent in related discipline

Preferred: MBA and/or MS preferred

YOUR EXPERIENCE

Minimum 10 years relevant programs leadership experience involving multi-disciplinary teams in a medical device environment, including experience in the complexity of people, processes, and systems needed to be successful in this role.
