Job Summary

Enterprise Information Services is at the forefront of managing Aerospace's classified and unclassified IT environment. As an Enterprise Systems Administrator (Systems Administration Specialist II/III),, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing our corporate server infrastructure, which underpins some of our most vital business services. In this pivotal position within the Computational Services Department, you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of advanced server and storage infrastructures that drive our mission-critical operations.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in Chantilly, VA.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deploy, sustain, and fine-tune both Microsoft Windows and Linux servers in a large-scale enterprise environment, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

  • Implement and support industry best practices for critical enterprise infrastructure systems, contributing to robust and scalable solutions.

  • Act as a liaison with internal and external customers to drive continuous service improvement, ensuring alignment with business needs.

  • Monitor and enhance the overall health, performance, and capacity of high-priority infrastructure services, ensuring seamless operations.

  • Develop and sustain automation processes to improve service operability and reduce Mean Time to Repair, driving continuous process enhancements.

  • Harden, scan, and remediate infrastructure to ensure compliance with NIST security best practices-applying DISA STIGs where necessary-to maintain a secure operating environment.

  • Provide tier 1 and 2 troubleshooting and support for enterprise Windows and Linux servers, solving complex issues with a proactive, solutions-driven approach.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements for Systems Administration Specialist II include:

  • A High School diploma, GED, or equivalent credentials are required.

  • A minimum of (2) years applicable experience in applicable technologies.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in configuring and managing MS Windows and/or Linux server environments to drive robust performance in complex IT settings.

  • Practical experience with security patching tools such as MS SCCM/MECM, Ivanti, or IBM BigFix, ensuring timely deployment and maintenance of security updates across enterprise systems.

  • Solid understanding of server virtualization technologies, including platforms like VMware or Hyper-V, to optimize resource utilization, scalability, and system resilience.

  • Familiarity with enterprise-class hardware, including rack-mounted and blade server chassis, to support high-availability environments and reliable infrastructure deployments.

  • Possession of a current Security+ or CISSP certification (or equivalent), affirming a strong commitment to meeting rigorous security standards essential for operating within classified environments

  • This position requires a current and active TS/SCI with CI polygraph security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship isrequiredto obtain a security clearance.

In addition to the above, the minimum requirements for the Systems Administration Specialist III include:

  • A minimum of (3) years of hands-on experience in relevant technologies, demonstrating a solid grounding in enterprise systems and data center operations is required.

  • Technical Certification or Skills (one or more required):

    • Certification: Possess a recognized certification such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator, validating your expertise in Linux-based environments.

    • Microsoft Expertise: Hold an MCSA certification for Windows Server 2016 or Windows Server 2019, demonstrating a strong foundation in Microsoft server administration.

    • Scripting Proficiency: Exhibit proven skills in scripting languages such as MS PowerShell, VMware PowerCLI, Bash, or other shell scripting languages, highlighting your ability to automate processes and improve operational efficiency.

    • High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of high availability cluster servers, including maintenance, security, disaster recovery, performance analysis, and tuning, ensuring resilient and efficient system operations.

    • Cisco UCS Acquaintance: Familiarity with Cisco UCS to effectively manage and support scalable data center infrastructures.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited program in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Technology, or equivalent experience demonstrating technical proficiency and problem-solving skills, is strongly preferred.

  • Hands-on experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, or SCCM to streamline and optimize IT processes.

  • Proven ability to utilize configuration management tools such as Puppet, PowerShell DSC, or SCCM to ensure consistent and reliable system configurations.

  • In-depth knowledge of Cisco UCS domains, including hands-on experience with Fabric Interconnects to support scalable and resilient infrastructure solutions.

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
