Overview

We are seeking a senior-level finance professional with exceptional analytical, leadership, and communication skills who wants to be part of the ESG movement. The ideal candidate will bring proven expertise in financial modeling, pricing, and project finance, particularly in renewable energy, regulated utilities, or

advanced technical manufacturing settings. A strong commitment to driving strategic impact in areas such as carbon capture and renewable natural gas is essential, with a clear focus on making a meaningful difference.

Responsibilities:



  • Direct the development and execution of financial strategies that support FuelCell Energy's long-term growth, including capital allocation, investment prioritization, and risk management across global operations.
  • Serve as the principal finance advisor for sales, finance, and executive leadership, delivering thought leadership and strategic analysis to enable successful commercial transactions and financing (corporate, construction, working capital, and project).
  • Lead financial evaluations for high-value investment decisions and customer contracts, including asset sales and long-term service agreements (e.g., power purchase agreements). Present recommendations to the executive leadership.
  • Direct collaboration with Commercial Sales and Business Development to evaluate new business opportunities, structure complex deals, and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Design, negotiate, and implement sophisticated project finance and capitalization strategies, optimizing capital structure and risk mitigation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise customers and finance partners on maximizing project and asset returns through innovative financial solutions.
  • Oversee the development, integrity, and continuous improvement of corporate and project finance models. Mentor and guide junior and mid-level finance staff through projects and customer sale evaluations.
  • Cultivate and expand relationships with key stakeholders (tax equity investors, strategic partners, lenders, customers), representing FuelCell Energy at the highest levels.
  • Champion cross-functional initiatives, demonstrating flexibility, initiative, and exemplary leadership.
  • Travel: Up to 20%, both domestic and international.



Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or relevant discipline with demonstrable experience.

Candidate must have demonstrable knowledge/experience in:



  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in financial analysis, modeling, and project finance, with a focus on renewable energy, utilities, or advanced manufacturing.
  • Proven ability to design and implement complex financial models for large-scale, multi-party projects, including structuring debt and equity financing.
  • Demonstrated success in leading pricing strategy, business planning, and managing the full lifecycle of project development and finance, with measurable impact on organizational growth.
  • Proven ability to lead pricing strategy, business planning, and the full life cycle of project development/finance.
  • Strong leadership capability, experience mentoring or overseeing junior staff, and an ability to drive business results through collaboration.
  • Excellent communication, project management, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills: proficiency in other Office applications required.
  • Outstanding time management skills, with high flexibility, creativity, and ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment.



Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:



  • Hybrid office and field environment: Must be able to drive an automobile, use a computer, and travel by plane.
  • Occasional walking, standing, and climbing may be required at customer or project sites.
  • Willingness to wear required PPE (e.g., safety glasses, shoes, hard hats, respirators) as designated by project or site requirements.
  • Travel by car, plane, or other forms of public transportation as needed for business objectives; regular domestic and international travel is required.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a valid Passport.
