Position Summary The Salvation Army Noble Corps is committed to "Doing the Most Good" by providing holistic, person-centered services to individuals and families. In addition to worship services and pastoral care, services include support with food, clothing, utilities, rent, securing housing, and both short- and long-term case management, as well as connections to community partners. The Summer Day Camp Counselor plays a hand-on role engaging directly with children and youth in a fun, faith-based camp environment. Counselors lead activities, ensure safety, and foster positive relationships with campers while modeling Christian values. This role supports campers' social, emotional, and spiritual growth through daily programs that promote teamwork, creativity, and connections. Wage: $17 per hour, 20-40 hours per week 10011 Noble Parkway, Brooklyn Park, MN 55443 Essential Functions (approximate time spent)
- Camper Supervision & Engagement (75%): Provide constant supervision and maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment for all campers. Lead and actively participate in daily camp activities including games, devotions, crafts, and group sessions. Ensure the safety, physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of campers, addressing behavioral or health concerns in accordance with camp policies and Safe From Harm guidelines.
- Program Support (10%): Assist in planning, preparing, and implementing scheduled activities and programs under the direction of program leadership. Encourage camper participation and model appropriate behavior and teamwork, helping to create an engaging and inclusive environment.
- Maintaining the Environment (10%): Support the daily setup, organization, and cleanup of camp spaces and equipment. Ensure supplies and materials are maintained, and report facility or safety concerns promptly to leadership.
- Parent & Camper Communication (5%): Assist with daily camper check-in and check-out procedures. Communicate with parents or guardians as directed regarding camp activities, policies, or camper needs, representing The Salvation Army in a friendly, professional manner.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience working with children or youth in a camp, school, recreational, or community program setting preferred.
- Experience leading group activities, games, crafts, or devotions strongly preferred.
- Must successfully pass background checks.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification preferred (training provided if not certified).

Working Conditions
- Active, physical environment primarily indoors with occasional outdoor activities.
- Requires standing, walking, bending, and participating in physical activities for extended periods.
- May involve lifting or carrying supplies (up to 25 lbs.).
- Noise level ranges from moderate to high depending on activity.
- Requires regular availability during program hours, which may include early mornings or late afternoons.
- On-site role; not eligible for a remote-friendly work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Travel/Driving Requirements
- Frequent travel by agency vehicle throughout the metro area to support the mission.
- Driving may be required periodically for field trips. Must be 18+ to drive agency vehicle.
