The Opportunity

The Resource Sharing Librarian oversees borrowing and lending functions of Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and Document Delivery, which includes working with Ex Libris Rapido and Springshare products; supervises two Resource Sharing technicians responsible for daily responsibilities in document delivery and interlibrary loan.

  • Configures and maintains the Ex Libris Rapido system to optimize resource sharing processes. Evaluates and researches new Ex Libris Rapido enhancement features that improve ILL processes.
  • Provides assistance and support to Daytona Beach and Worldwide patrons using Ex Libris Rapido system.
  • Provides backup to all interlibrary and document delivery tasks in the absence of for the Resource Sharing Technicians.
  • Troubleshoots Interlibrary Loan technologies and equipment to resolve issues and ensure all is working properly.
  • Serves as the Resource Sharing liaison on the Ex Libris Systems Team.
  • Serves on the Collection Management Team and makes purchase recommendations based off resource sharing requests and statistics.
  • Creates and updates policies and procedures to respond to changing trends and patron needs.
  • Monitors and reports Copyright Compliance.
  • Assists and monitors department budget as it relates to document delivery and interlibrary loan expenditures.
  • Develops and maintains statistics related to Interlibrary Loan.Creates statistical reports based on the information reported in Ex Libris
  • Initiates training opportunities for two Resource Sharing Technicians. Conducts yearly and bi-yearly evaluations and conducts one-on-one meetings as needed.
  • Maintains currency with professional literature in resource sharing, academic librarianship, higher education, and Access Services trends. Represents the library at professional library conferences and seminars as the need and opportunities arise.

In addition to interlibrary loan and document delivery, the Resource Sharing Librarian also serves as the Hunt Library coordinator for physical course reserves and electronic course reserves utilizing Springshare E-Reserves platform and works across library departments to advise on the use and promotion of E-reserves.

  • Manages incoming course reserve requests, tracks use of reserves, and prepares statistical reports; manages copyright on reserve items.
  • Keeps detailed records of reserve items, permission requests, and status of requests, charges, and invoices.
  • Creates and disseminates training materials to assist Daytona Beach and Worldwide campus faculty in creating course reserve requests.
  • Works with Associate Director of Library Operations & Access Services and Research and Instruction librarians and explores approaches to communicating about reserves and course support services and policies to Daytona Beach and Worldwide campus faculty to ensure an effective, high-quality, and sustainable service model.
  • Stays abreast with all issues involving course support, including software, hardware, policy, process, trends, and best practices.

The Resource Sharing librarian participates in the staffing and supervision of Access Services as needed and learns all Access Services and circulation procedures and provides back-up coverage at the Hunt Library Borrow Desk as needed.This position also participates in the planning and evaluation of services; coordinates activities within course reserves, resource sharing, and the library to ensure consistent service; creates strategies to evaluate Resource Sharing services; utilizes data collection methods to collect quantitative and qualitative data; prepares ACRL and Annual Report statistics, and other reports as needed; reviews data multiple times per year to track trends and modify services; initiates special projects and perform other duties as required; and reports to the Associate Director for Library Operations and Access Services.

Qualifications

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree, concentration in Library Science or Information Studies

Required Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:

  • Experience in an access services or library circulation department.
  • Experience with document delivery, interlibrary loan, or resource sharing.
  • Minimum of two years of supervising support staff.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Analytical skills with an in-depth knowledge of information systems and technical expertise with Microsoft operating systems, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook/email, and internet end-user applications

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience with Interlibrary Loan management systems (such as Ex Libris Rapido or OCLC Worldshare ILL, etc.)
  • Experience with Library Service Platforms (such as Ex Libris Alma, etc.)
  • Academic library experience
  • Knowledge of or experience with course reserves
  • Experience with copyright law practices in an academic setting
