The Histology Laboratory Supervisor assists the Lab Manager by providing oversight of day to day operations in the Histology/Cytology laboratory department.


Qualifications

Certifications: Medical Technologist (MT) (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (AMT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT); Medical Technologist (MT) (AMT) - American Medical Technologists (AMT); Histotechnician (HT) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP); Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) (ASCP) - American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP);

Education: Bachelor's Degree: Clinical Laboratory Science; Experience In Lieu of Education; Bachelor's Degree: Biological Science; Certificate of Completion: Histology, Work Experience:3yrs of Lab operations


Responsibilities

Provides support to, and serves as backup for the Lab Director or Manager.Responsible for the oversight of day to day operations in the respective departments that they oversee.Leads initiatives at the direction/discretion of the Lab Director or Manager.Overall responsibility for regulatory preparedness in both areas (working with lab leadership and staff).Ongoing monitoring of quality and performance metrics and provides feedback for improvement.Performance evaluation and ongoing supervision of personnel assigned to them. Provides training, coaching and counseling of direct reports with assistance from the Lab Director and Manager, as needed.Assists with operating and capital budget preparation and monthly expense variance reporting.Performs all essential function of a Technologist of the department(s) they oversee.Oversees all aspects of proficiency testing for department(s). Maintains records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested per CAP standards. Monitors turn-around-time reports and implements corrective action to ensure the established timeframes are consistently met. Helps assess and recommend new instrumentation and tests for their department(s). Ensures implementation studies, LIS validation and staff training take place when new instrumentation and tests are implemented. Performs performance evaluations for assigned staff. Evaluates CAP checklists and ensures their designated department(s) are in compliance and inspection-ready with all regulations. Monitors and updates statistics for the Laboratory's quality plans for their designated department(s) and implements corrective action plans as needed to ensure all quality goals are met. Responsible for writing, evaluation, revisions, implementation and review of department policies and procedures.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $33.92per hour - $58.34per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
