Overview
The Hospital Infusion Registered Nurse is certified in the correct selection, proper insertion, and overall management of vascular access devices. This role ensures optimal patient outcomes through evidence-based practice, education, and ensuring the collaboration of a multidisciplinary team. Qualifications Certifications: Vascular Access Board Certified (VA-BC) - Vascular Access Certification Corporation (VACC); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR); Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA), Education: College Diploma: Nursing, Work Experience: Responsibilities Comprehends department specific indicators. Interacts with clients, caregivers and families to assess, plan care, arrange services, monitor, and provide support and education. Returns all PICC, Midline and education documentation to the office complete and in a timely manner (according to policy). Completes visits notes and telephone conversations records and transmitted timely according to policy (includes physician orders, admission, routine, supervisory, telephone and discharge notes.) Ensures physician orders are written timely, corrections to care plans are entered and transmitted according to time line. Practices in a manner sensitive to the needs of patients and families. Provides care according to plan of care and orders. Acts as preceptor and supports the development of other staff and formal learners. Communicates and coordinates with other team members, sharing information to enable the most complete possible assessment of needs and requirements for both patient and organization. Functions as a patient/significant other advocate seeking direction as needed. Bases changes in practice standards on literature reviews, collaboration with other institutions, and departments within Carle to improve quality and patient safety. Understands and implements infection control practices in the placement of vascular access devices Performs the insertion, maintenance, and removal of all vascular access devices Provides excellent customer service to patients, staff and physicians Demonstrates leadership skills/involvement at the unit/department level. Serves as a role model and resource for co-workers in the unit/department. Collaborates with physicians, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality care is delivered Assess a patient's vascular access needs and develop a individualized standard of care Correctly document all procedures, assessments, and patient outcomes Participate in quality improvement initiatives related to vascular access Provide education to patient, family, and staff on vascular access device care and maintenance About Us Find it here. Compensation and Benefits The compensation range for this position is $32.81per hour - $56.43per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
