Job Scope

The Bioassay Scientist I will develop and perform immunoassay multiplex bead based assays and conduct complex sample testing services independently in a regulated environment. With minimal supervision, the Bioassay Scientist I will conduct feasibility, optimization, and validation to support custom xMAP immunoassay method development. He/she is responsible for delivering field training and basic Luminex xMAP remote consultancy with high-quality customer service in mind. The Bioassay Scientist I should have expert knowledge of advanced laboratory techniques to allow independent functioning and mentoring of junior team members.

Duties and Responsibilities



  • Support immunoassay development by conducting feasibility, optimization and validation of xMAP immunoassays in a regulated environment
  • Responsible for developing and performing complex bead coupling protocols.
  • Conduct complex sample testing services in a regulated environment
  • Conduct reagents characterization and stability assessment using appropriate analytical techniques (FPLC, capillary electrophoresis, BLI).
  • Deliver training for new and existing customers on xMAP instrumentation and assay development.
  • Analyze complex experimental data using appropriate statistical methods and software.
  • Communicate with Business Managers during project's life cycle stages to ensure alignment with project goals, identify opportunities, optimize customer experience and support Luminex's commercial objectives.
  • Resolve moderately complex problems requiring the application of standard procedures and techniques.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations to communicate project progress to stakeholders
  • Train and mentor junior staff in specific laboratory techniques and Good Documentation practices.
  • Perform instrument calibrations/verifications as required.
  • Draft and review SOPs, protocols, and project reports.
  • Attend group, departmental and other necessary meetings and training sessions pertinent to work.

Education, Experience and Qualifications



  • 2+ Years Experience with immunoassay feasibility and optimization stages during immunoassay development. required
  • 2+ Years Performing development, validation, and sample analysis using immunoassays in a regulated environment preferred
  • 1+ Years Experience drafting and editing SOP's and working instructions for a GLP or GCP compliant laboratory required
  • 1+ Bachelor's Degree Life Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or related discipline) with 6-8+ years of relevant experience required
  • Master's Degree Life Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or related discipline) with 4-6+ years of relevant experience preferred
  • Ph.D. Life Science (Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology or related discipline) with 2+ years of relevant experience. preferredYears Previous field-based role and/or experience working directly with scientists using Luminex xMAP Technology in the field. preferred
  • 1+ Years Experience characterizing immunoassay critical reagents using advanced analytical instrumentation for protein analysis. preferred
  • 1+ Years Use of electronic notebook software in a regulated environment preferred
  • 1+ Years Experience working in a GLP environment required



Training and Skills



  • Experience in immunoassay development and optimization. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to run multiplex immunoassays and conduct analysis of generated complex datasets. (High proficiency)
  • Proficient in protein biology, scientific principles and concepts. (High proficiency)
  • Mathematics and statistics aptitude. (High proficiency)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint programs, Google Suite and assay data analysis software platforms. (High proficiency)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with proven time management and prioritization skills. (High proficiency)
  • Experience writing detailed reports and communicating project progress to stakeholders and customers. (High proficiency)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. (High proficiency)
  • Proficiency with ELN systems for real-time data capture, electronic signatures and audit trail management (High proficiency)
  • Proficiency with Luminex xMAP instrumentation (High proficiency)
  • Experience in BioPharma (High proficiency)
  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements and quality systems (e.g., GLP, GCP) (Medium proficiency)
  • Experience with various protein analytical techniques such as FPLC, gel electrophoresis, UV-Vis and BLI (Medium proficiency)



Travel Requirements
