Schedule: Monday – Friday, 7: 30 a.m. – 4: 30 p.m. Occasional Saturdays, 8: 00 a.m. – 2: 00 p.m.
Position Summary
The Equipment Operator performs skilled work operating medium and heavy motorized equipment and commercial vehicles in support of landfill operations. This position contributes directly to safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible solid waste services for the community.

Essential Functions

Operate a wide variety of motorized equipment, including heavy construction equipment and commercial vehicles

Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively

Install, operate, repair, and maintain tools and equipment
-
Load and haul materials and supplies
-
Maintain vehicle inventory and properly stock equipment
-
Perform skilled labor tasks following established procedures
-
Maintain a safe work environment and ensure equipment safety
-
Adhere to all safety standards and operational guidelines
-
Document work performed accurately
-
Provide positive and effective customer service
-
Assist other departments as needed
-
Maintain regular attendance
-
Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
Education & Experience
Licenses & Certifications
-
Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
-
Division-specific CDL endorsements within 6 months of hire
-
Department of Transportation (DOT) medical certification
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of:

Standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in trade work

Safety standards related to equipment operation and maintenance

Columbia geography and streets
