The University of Iowa Department of Athletics seeks applications for a B1G Ten Intern. The University of Iowa is an NCAA Division I institution and a member of the Big Ten Conference. This is a full-time temporary position (temporary, PZ04 intern, and FLSA nonexempt) for one year, working up to 40 hours per week and does not include University benefits. The Department of Athletics manages 22 varsity sports programs and related events with a workforce of approximately 250 regular employees and 300 temporary employees. (https://hawkeyesports.com/about-ui-athletics) (https://hawkeyesports.com/about-ui-athletics) Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Student-Athlete Development and the Administrative Specialist to the Director of Athletics, the Iowa Athletics Big Ten Intern will gain exposure and hands-on experience in Athletics Administration. The intern will support Student-Athlete Development, Athletics Administration, and one or more specialty areas aligned with the intern's academic background and career interests. The intern will assist with the planning and execution of programs, community service initiatives, student athlete outreach events, and athletic administrative functions. The intern will also participate in structured job shadowing and project-based work across a range of Athletics units, such as Event Management and Sport Operations, External Relations, Human Resources, Business Office, Student-Athlete Academic Services, Facilities Operations, Center for Advancement, Compliance, Sport Performance, Information Technology, Ticketing, and Licensing. This role is designed to build broad professional insight into the operations, culture, and collaborative processes that drive a Division I athletics department, while fostering transferable skills and preparing the intern for a future career within the intercollegiate athletics landscape. Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree;
- Experience as a former Big Ten Conference student-athlete;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills,
- Professional experience working effectively with individuals from a variety of backgrounds and perspectives, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trusting relationships;
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines;
- Ability to work interdependently and independently;
- Working knowledge of and ability to:
- Utilize basic office support software (word processing, email, presentation software and spreadsheets)
- Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment.

Desired Qualifications:
- Basic knowledge and understanding of the professionalism and intensity necessary to successfully contribute to a Division I athletics program.
