The Role

Seeking a highly skilled Indirect Tax Manager to lead the tax compliance, planning, and advisory efforts across the United States and Canada. This is a critical role responsible for ensuring seamless execution of sales and use tax, GST/HST, PST, and QST regimes.
As a key partner to our Finance and Operations teams, you will not only manage filings and audits but also identify strategic tax-saving opportunities and mitigate risk in a complex cross-border environment.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Compliance Leadership: Oversee the end-to-end preparation, review, and filing of all US and Canadian indirect tax returns.
  • Audit Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for US and Canadian tax authorities, managing inquiries and defending tax positions.
  • Strategic Advisory: Provide technical guidance on business transactions, contracts, and new initiatives to ensure tax efficiency.
  • Process Innovation: Identify and implement automation and process improvements to enhance the efficiency of our tax function.
  • Legislative Monitoring: Stay ahead of changing tax laws and communicate the operational impact to senior leadership.
  • System Support: Support indirect tax integration for ERP implementations, upgrades, and tax automation projects.

Qualifications:
  • Experience: Must have 5+ years of dedicated indirect tax experience with deep technical knowledge of both US (Sales/Use) and Canadian (GST/HST, PST, QST) jurisdictions. Varied background working across carious industries; ideally tech or SaaS
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Tax. CPA or equivalent professional certification is highly preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong experience with ERP systems and tax automation software.
  • Analytical Skills: Proven ability to manage complex tax issues in a multi-state/province and cross-border environment.
  • Communication: Ability to translate complex tax concepts into actionable advice for cross-functional stakeholders.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
