Job Description

This position is funded solely by grant funds. Regrettably, should the funding from the grant end, the position you are being offered may cease.

The Integrated Program Coordinator's primary role is to determine and verify eligibility of individuals for Missouri Medicaid (MO Healthnet) - specifically, those applications completed by UH FCC staff. This involves reviewing applications; gathering necessary documentation; assessing income, assets and other factors to determine program eligibility; as well as verifying and loading insurance in the UH system as patients become approved. Secondarily, this role serves as a front-line representative for the organization by interviewing patients and/or other sources to obtain demographic and financial data, linking patients to clinical and financial systems of the hospital. Communicates health benefit regulations and patient financial obligations to responsible parties. Communication and interviewing may occur in a variety of settings - face to face, over the phone, bedside, within the ambulatory clinics or via online tools.

When on the phone, serves as a first contact for patients and other internal/external customers seeking information about financial assistance. Asks key questions to correctly and rapidly assist patients in answering their questions about financial options. Uses all patient interactions as an opportunity to be a problem solver for system. Makes informed decisions using multiple systems and tools to ascertain eligibility for assistance programs. Is proficient in these activities and systems such that work is performed independently.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Must meet state of Missouri employment requirements for all persons contracted to do work with Department of Social Services which includes satisfaction of all state income tax requirements and fingerprinting. Questions about state income taxes should be referred to Missouri Department of Revenue or RSMo Section 105.262

  • Successfully complete the 6-8 week Family Support Division training related to application processing

  • Concise written and verbal communication skills

  • Communication skills to interview patients and families, to gather and exchange information with other hospital staff members, physicians, and resource persons.

  • Minimum requirements met for Resource Counselor II

  • Advanced computer, keyboard, Outlook, Word, Power Point, Excel Ability to work in a busy, loud and demanding environment

  • Must independently recognize and evaluate situations for the level of urgency

  • Strong emotional intelligence and empathy

  • Must be detail oriented and accurate

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks

Preferred Qualifications

Prefer previous experience as a Family support Division Worker Experience in hospital admission and/or patient accounting desirable Knowledge of basic medical terminology helpful Computer skills preferred include Basic Outlook, Word and Excel
