Cost Engineer Interiors (CEI/FCDT) develops direct material costs and tooling investments for "Interior door trim" components using activity-based costing methodology while working from bill of materials, drawings and/or samples.

Cost Engineer responsibilities will include utilizing Stellantis component cost methodologies and processes to develop, analyze, and provide guidance for cost convergence to internal stakeholders. The Cost Engineer will assist the worldwide teams with technical cost evaluation services to estimate component costs for projects in advanced through serial life cycle phases.

Ability to be agile, curious, and an engaging cross functional teammate is required to support cost evaluation activities within a global organization.

Key deliverables:



  • Development of component costs for new programs ("cost engineering estimate" at initial concept; "should cost calculation" through bottom-up approach for new & modified purchased components based on the 'how it's made' manufacturing process)
  • Provide Engineering support during vehicle development phase for target achievement (Design to Cost)
  • Development of tooling costs for new programs
  • Provide purchasing support during supplier negotiations through gap analysis of supplier's price breakdown detail
  • Provide Engineering with support during the vehicle development phase for target achievement (Design to Cost)
  • Support of the Global Cost Initiative and World Wide Component Cost comparisons/studies
  • Support of Benchmarking and Value Optimization (VO) activities including support of serial life should cost requests
  • The Cost Engineer works closely with Engineering, Buyer, other internal department functions, Finance and supplier representatives
  • For this role Cost Engineer should have understanding of Injection molding, Wrapping, Surface Treatment & tooling capabilities


Key responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Research relevant market trends, industrial standards, and innovations
  • Perform Competitive Benchmarking and suggest value optimization ideas to programs to ensure the competitiveness of Stellantis solutions
  • Identify potential cost optimization opportunities and support company technical cost reduction activities. This may include periodic Supplier visits to maintain & improve internal know-how of manufacturing processes & best practices
  • Provide global component cost comparison analysis by working within the Cost Engineering community

Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering or related scientific field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the Auto industry
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to create high quality presentation materials and reports for presentation to management levels
  • Must demonstrate a high level of organization and ability to track a high number of part numbers and part complexity
  • Proficient in MS Office suite of tools including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Ability to interface with all levels of the enterprise, across multiple organizations and regions
  • Basic component knowledge of Injection molding technology, Surface Treatments technology (painting and chroming) in chemical commodity


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master of science degree in Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering preferred
  • Familiarity with Cost Model elements and how to apply Activity Based Costing to component cost development
  • Detailed / Higher level seat component understanding or manufacturing processes
  • Experience in production facilities along with knowledge of how Door Trim or other Cockpit component such as Floor Console or Instrument Panel are made
